DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

CV & VM O-ring Sources

1.5 x 3.5 works, but I suspect you could also use 1.3 or 1.4 too. Since the groove is 3.86mm I think something a little smaller than 3.8mm is better, but it obviously doesn't matter.

Received my o-ring kits today. One of the kits has several small metal washers... They weren't pictured in the ad. Anyone have any idea what they would be for???

EDIT: Oops, the ad does mention them. They're for the idle adjustment screw on BS carbs.

I just rebuilt my VM carbs and all o rings seemed to fit well except for the pilot fuel jet. To me it seemed like the o ring ID was a bit too big, the o ring fit loose on the jet. I have fuel leaking out of all 4 carbs and I haven't determined if it's from the pilot fuel jet or the reused bowl gaskets yet. I will pull the carbs next week to investigate.

I forgot to mention I ordered the intake o-rings from the ebay seller listed above and compared to the OEM orings I ordered with my new OEM intakes. The orings from the ebay seller are slightly thicker and fit the recess in the OEM intake better IMO. The OEM oring is thinner and had to be stretched ever so slightly to fit into the intake recess. The ebay oring just fell right into place. I went ahead and used the OEM oring but will be using the ebay ones from now on I think.

Global Oring and seal. Just purchased 100 of each I needed, they are that inexpensive. Comes with certs

Guess I’ll need to read up on cycle orings being no more, I’m out of the loop on that one but always found Robert’s kits to be high quality, well put together and he was always helpful!

Hope he’s on to bigger and/or better things, and glad to know there are some other options out there people are having success with.

In an attempt to keep all the info in one place, I found this today when searching for float bowl gaskets.

K&L is selling oring kits with float bowl gaskets. Looks like everything you need to rebuild a set of BS carbs. I may order one to compare to the BS o-ring kit I ordered from the other ebay seller linked in post # 8. I've used the VM kit from post [NODE="8"]#[/NODE] 8 and it worked well. Haven't tried the BS kit yet.

Either way, for all o-rings and the float gaskets, I think it's a good deal. The gaskets alone are ~$15 depending where you purchase them and the o-ring kits are $17, so you'd save $5 getting this K&L kit and get everything you need in one package. If anyone has tried these I'd like to hear your feedback.

Agree. A decent deal...assuming the O-ring kit is complete, and fits.

I can say the O rings & mixture screws & fuel T seals that Brian supplies, UK Ebay seller. Are fine, they cured all the leaks and issues I had with my VM28 carbs on my GS1000. I have used a couple of his O ring kits.

Good to know, sounds like eBay it is. I’m also curious if anyone else can confirm the right gaskets and o rings are in the K&L kit. My son in law’s 750T will need the carbs gone through soon enough so if I pick one up, I’ll circle back and update this thread.

Thanks all!!

Order the K&L kit with gaskets and let us know!

For what it's worth, I've got O-ring kits in stock now for both CV and VM type carbs. I have no experience with the K&L kits, but the CV kits sold on ebay by retro-motorcycles don't fit.

Why do you say the CV kits from retro-motorcycles don't fit? I just rebuilt the carbs on my 83 850GL using that kit and they seemed to fit fine to me. Plus there were a few extra of the tiny orings which was nice.
