On Monday April 29th 9 of us are taking off from Victoria BC for Monterey Ca. for The Quail on May 4th
This will be the third time for me and a couple of the other guys....showed my Cooley there in 2017 and was fortunate to win a prize....we also went in 2022.

6 BMW's
2 Hondas
And 1 Moto Guzzi

I'll be in my VFR1200F
From Monterey (there for 3 days) we head to and stop in Kernville Ca, Las Vegas, Marble Canyon, Moab Ut (2 days), Tremonton Ut, John Day Or, Cashmere Wa. then home...15 days and around 6300kms
I'll keep you guys updated, should be fun.
Being able to do trips like this makes me realize how fortunate I am....since my accident I have decided to take as many trips as possible...one day I won't be able to.

Yeah, keep us updated and take pictures... I know you will.

I agree with you Trevor. At our age we better get busy living!
I'm booked for this year. Starting to make plans for 2025.
I gotta see what your Friday Safety Meetings are all about for myself...

That would make my year Norm, to see you at one of my safety meetings!
You are welcome here anytime and I would love to take some days to show you around the island and the interior of BC.
Cheers

Packed an ready to go! Catching the 10:30am Coho ferry to Port Angeles WA.....Astoria OR. will be our first stop.
I don't think my dog wants me to leave :(

We left Monday April 29th for the Quail

My wife always takes a pic of me leaving the garage

9 of us from Victoria made the trip...here we are waiting for the Coho Ferry to get off the island and go to Port Angeles Wa....a 1 hour and 40 min sailing.

Our first stop was Astoria Oregon....only about 339kms but with the late start (ferry doesn't leave Victoria until 10:30am) we arrived shortly before 5pm....I really prefer to be at out motel no later than 4pm hence why I have a strict rule of "kickstands up at 7am" each morning.
We always stay at the Atomic motel

Our first dinner of the trip at The Bridge Water Bistro

No rain on the first day

The next day we left at 7am in pouring rain and it would stay that way for almost 400kms of our 640km day....but hey that was the only rain we got for 15 days and it was expected.

Breakfast at Camp 18 outside Elsie Or.....70km ride...I always try to get us down the road 70 to 100kms before stopping for breakfast. It avoids mulling around at the motel....I made reservations in advance at all our breakfast places each day...my OCD Lol

California baby!
Our destination was Crescent City California....just into California....we always stay at the Curley Redwood Motel....the whole motel was made from one giant redwood tree that produced 57,000 board feet of wood. Curly Redwood is unique because of it's curly grain of wood.

And another fantastic dinner

Day 4
Petaluma to Monterey Ca. 310kms....
Short day but took in the sites at the bridge and Alice's Restaurant
So many great roads.

Alice's

The Lone Oak Lodge in Monterey is a great place to stay....I think this is the 6th time I've stayed there since 2017
Monty who runs the lodge is a great guy and has a wonderful family....

One of guys lost a bolt from his rear brake caliper and had to go to an auto store to buy a too big replacement....so a Sawsall was employed....lol the guys doing renos at the lodge lent us theirs

Dinner at Turn 12 restaurant....named for the 12 turns at Laguna Seca

Day 5 was a day off in Monterey....so we visited the Talbott Motorcycle Museum....great place.
Talbott of Talbott clothiers and vineyards.

Also a trip to Laguna

The Corkscrew

Then Friday night we headed to see a performer we saw a couple of years ago...he's a Canadian living in Monterey, Dan Frechette....great music....and he once again played tons of music from Canadian artists...and even did an instrumental version of Oh Canada....lol

What a great bunch....they all are regulars at my safety meetings and we ranged in age....56, 58, 67, 68, two at 69 and two at 72

Great stuff, I didn't even know about the museum. I was there with my son, took my '69 Airstream up, and camped about a mile away on Carmel Valley Road. The weather was perfect on Friday and Sunday for our quick trip from Southern CA, but it got a bit wet during the show, starting right about 10AM as the event began. Still, it was fun. I wanted to take my 66 Norton N15CS but maybe next time. I'm still tinkering with a couple of things on it. Next time I'll hit the Talbott and maybe the museum in Solvang. Here are some pics, the 1968 Honda CB750 factory prototype won the show, early pre-production. I want that Laverda, oy vey.
