Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Friday afternoon safety meeting.

Trevor, is it the case that in Victoria in order to register to vote you must prove ownership of a vintage motorcycle? It sure seems that way.

It really comes down to our awesome "Collector Plate" program we have in BC.
Our insurance here is run by the BC Gov...I know...how Commie of us...lol...
If you motorcycle is at least 25 years old you can apply for "collector plates"....you send in 6 pics of your bike...front, rear, both sides, seat and vin.
Your bike has to be in nice mostly original conditions...safety items like new suspension, brake line etc. are ok...and certain period correct mods....like the 4-1 exhausts my bike has. If your bike is approved it about a 75% discount. The only restrictions are you can't ride it to and from work or school...other than that you can ride it as much as you want....as you know from me... :)
If you have several bikes that have been approved for collector status you can get a "multi-plate"...one plate that cost about the same as having three individual collector plates....and then you can put as many collector plates on it at no extra charge.
This program extends to cars as well....so this might very well be part of the reason we have so many old bikes/cars on the road.
I love it! Keeps classics on the road and creates it's own cottage industry in the process. :)

Well another good Friday afternoon safety meeting.....great weather we are having.

My buddy Brian seems to buy a new motorcycle every week...lol...he picked up this beauty this week....Ohlins front and rear, Corbin seat, after market exhaust etc etc this makes number 27 0r 28 bikes he has now....he's certifiable
I have always loved these bikes..

My buddy Geoff...you have seen a couple of his cars....70 green Jaguar convertible and a 60s red Austin Healey

And then things got interesting...lol...a friend Steve who has a huge car and motorcycle collection came over....you may remember a thread I did "Friday safety meeting doing a tour"...where we saw his collection....he's Lotus guy.
1967 Cortina
He races this one...

"Positive Earth" I've heard of that. I would probably forget and make a spark or two if I was working on that.

It was the daftest notion foisted on the world by the British car industry.
Any older cars I had back in the day I immediately converted to negative earth, just to keep them in line with the rest of the world (or Europe).
Anyone who's ever lunched a car radio by ass-uming anything about the earthing will know what I mean.
What I REALLY don't understand is the desire by some restorers to revert the cars to positive earth. Utterly stupid idea.

Yes, British Fords as far back as I recall were Neg-VE, although there were probably some older ones that weren't. Positive earth still appeared in BMC cars for years into the 60s, but they all eventually became Neg.
Another favourite bugging point of mine is the bone-headed 'originality' quest to take off perfectly fine alternator upgrades and replace them with wheezy old dynamos, just like they had when they left the factory.
Save me from the Rivet Counters!

Good Friday afternoon safety meeting....raining so not a single bike showed up....driveway and street was pretty full of cars though.... good crowd.

My buddy Steve, he's the guy that brought the Cortina last week...this week his Austin Martin DB9...he left it here and I took it for a spin today...wow...was not prepared for the sound. :)

It was in last Friday's meeting..

The guy who rides this...is he bigger and stronger than most guys? Have a deeper voice, more hair on his chest? Braver than most? More, shall we say...masculine?

I thought so.

Wondering about that H2. I know nothing about Canada, but in the U.S. pretty sure all the 1972, first yr., H2's were blue. also thinking, though it's been over 50 yrs. ago, thinking they came with the steering dampener.... Gosh I'd love to have an old H2, Yrs. ago I loved riding those things. I can imagine it may not be as much fun these days.
