Hello all,
New to the forum. I just got my first bike, 1982 GS400E. The bike seemed totally fine at first and was in really good condition, fully rebuilt, all original parts. However, I recently come across a charging issue with the electrical system that I’m still looking into. I have been doing a lot of tests with the multimeter and I am fairly certain that the rectifier/regulator is fine and at first I thought the stator could be in bad shape, but most of the readings are good. The only thing is that the voltage is a lot lower than it should be coming from there. This led me to believe that it could be the rotor that is causing the issue or bad connections/wires. Me and buddy are hoping to get a better look/diagnosis this weekend but I’ve been looking online and I’m having trouble finding a replacement source for the rotor. Some of the prices I’ve seen for a replacement of the same part number have been as high as $600 and I’m wondering if anyone know where I could find a suitable alternative or cheaper solution. Thanks for any advice
