A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Polaris SH775 Opinions??

Or you could just get a SH-232 or a SH-532 and have a bolt in replacement that includes leadwires. It will work just as well.

    1980 gs1100 l

Looks can be deceiving. The best looking bikes can still have electrical issues and carb problems. L models are not as desireable as G or E models unless you are into the cruiser look. If the bike has sat instead of being driven it may need more attention. Good luck and let us know how it...

r/r questions: how to find out if r/r is series or shunt?

Sh-232 Was my favorite. Fit perfect and never failed. Sold a few hundred on this forum over the years.

    Pumpkin ratios - a discovery

Changing tire size is an easier way to go. I went to a 130 tire on my 650G and it lowered rpms from the 110 on it when I got the bike.

    Same engine '82 GS650EZ and GS650GL?

Ignition is different on the '83, the advance is electronic and is built into the ignitor, not using the mechanical advance on the end of the crank. The 83 engine is identical as far as far as ignition advance. I swapped an 81 for an 83 without issues.

    Gs650 tear down

The vesrah head gasket composition works for surfaces which are less than perfect. You'll need to retouque them once or twice or they will fail.

    Cyliner head swap question

There was a 16 bolt and 17 bolt valve cover change made in late 1982. I've gotten the 16 bolt gaskets to work on a 17 bolt cover. You might need the valve cover that came with the replacement head.

    gs1000g and gs1100g

Combustion chambers are smaller on a 1000. Using the 1000 head on an 1100 will yield nearly a full point increase in compression. Conversely a 1100 head will lower the squeeze on a 1000. The 1100 jugs with a 1000 head is a good candidate for performance cams if you can afford them. You'll make...

    650G clutch springs

My 650G started slipping on 4 to 5 shifts at high speed. I ordered new clutch springs on a hunch and it turns out the old springs were 5 millimeter shorter on the bench than new ones. I had a burnt steel disc as a result. Fortunately I had a few spares steels. Springs are cheap and worth...

    Current state of Bikebandit

Bike bandit finally answered the telephone and I got to speak to an agent. He apologized of course and tells me my parts are now on hand and will ship, I'll get them by Friday. Friday comes and nothing. Monday I get the same robot email about back order. I call again and they say it will ship. I...

    Current state of Bikebandit

It took 6 weeks to get an RMA to return parts. Still waiting on the right parts and credit for the return. Their biggest sin is charging my card for items they said were in stock when they really have to get them from a distributor. That's dishonest. They won't answer emails or the phone to...
