A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Fork service.

replace the damper rod piston ring (#21) and the teflon bushing (#8), new o-rings, and seals. Don't cheap out on seals, get some OEM. All balls stuff isn't very good and i wouldn't use their seals or any house brand seals. Run some 15wt maxima green label fork oil, it's a cheap but good fork...

    1981 GSX1100 Katana Based Project

Don't forget to do your weight balancing with rings circlips and wrist pins included in the measurement. You can mix and match the rings and wrist pins (if the rings haven't been sized to the bore yet) to your pistons first to try and balance out all 4 pistons first, then start shaving pistons...

    Looking For Images of Gaskets

It is a risk, but the gaskets i got from him were spot on. You can always buy the 15 dollar gasket and place on your engine part to confirm fitment prior to scanning the gasket. You can also put your engine part gasket surface down and scan them on a flat bed scanner or use a camera setup on a...

1980 GS850GT top end rebuild - head machining

Just get it machined, those graphite head gaskets make a mess and are nearly impossible to fully remove without damaging the gasket surface. What ever you do do not sand or use rotary abrasive wheels to clean the surface. You new head gasket will likely be a metal layer gasket and those don't...

82 Kat looks tired but price dropping, now $3,3300 SoCal (not mine)

She is rough for sure, good candidate for custom work, aka inverted forks, 17" wheels ect... the hard part will be finding replacement parts to get it back to new, best you can hope for is fresh paint and good looking aftermarket stuff/modern stuff.

    Oil contamination

Does the water pump drive off the engine (like the transmission) and have a shaft that goes from the pump into a engine oil side of things? I have had dirt bikes that had the water pump shaft seal fail and bleed coolant into the engine/trans oil.

Psyching myself up for the top end - any veteran eyes up to read borescope pictures?

There are machine shops that make metal widgets for industrial purposes and there are machine shops that specialize in automotive/powersport repairs. You want a automotive machine shop. To find a reliable one i would stop by your local independent automotive repair shops and/or motorcycle shops...
