A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Maximum tyre sizes for a spoked wheeled GS1000S

Thanks for your responses. I am aware of the spacer but am unsure of the clearance between the tyre and the chain or the chain guard. The spoked rim can be offset fractionally to allow a wider tyre, but I'd prefer not to do this.

Maximum tyre sizes for a spoked wheeled GS1000S

I have found some spoke wheel hubs that will fit my 1979 GS1000S and am about to get the rims laced on. I am undecided on the width rims to get as I wish to get the maximum possible size tyres fitted. I plan to keep with the 19-inch front and 18-inch rear sizes and will also keep the original...

    Gsx750 cafe/street bike

I am interested in knowing where you got this bike certified. I think that you told me years ago that it was somewhere in the Wairarapa. I'm in Palmy Nth and have a project bike needing certification. Any advice is appreciated. Cheers Paul

Can you tell me why there is always a line. Is Sparky's a chain of restaurants or is there just the one? I'm guessing that this is in Albuquerque? Cheers Paul

H_G, great photos and you have a very keen sense of humour. It's good to see the little fella getting around and showing the rest of us things and places that we would otherwise never get to see. I drove some of Route 66 between St Louis and Chicago a few years ago and it seemed like a good...

There is also the advantage of having cooler oil going to the cams rather than having it heated as it travels up the studs.

Taking a GS1000 to the track, advice needed

Great advice Greg. I went down the road of thinking that more horsepower would make up for less talent and ended up breaking vertebrae, tail bone, ribs, bones in hands and feet and scratched my helmet. Get experience before power. And spend good money on the best tyres - they are (hopefully)...

    Stator, The GSR travelling mascot.

If you can get him to me in NZ before 12 October I'll take him to the MotoGp at Phillip Island. From there I can get him to Sydney or Brisbane to meet up with anyone who wants to take him from there. Or I can bring him back to NZ and hand him on to someone over here. Any takers?

Thanks for the write up Tatu. Very interesting. I'm guessing that the main use for sisal is ropes. After your comments about Mombasa I had to take a look at a map to see where it is exactly. I don't think that I've ever taken a good look at a map of Kenya before. If I remember correctly...

    for all the engine builders

Best that you upgrade the rockers while you are at it. I replaced my GS1100 rockers with GSXR items thinking that they would handle a high performance Web cam. WRONG. Get an exchange deal with APE for their hardened ones.

gs1100gk 41mm straight leg forks as performance mod for gs750/850/1000?

I had a pair of these 41's on my race bike fitted with emulators and using GSXR triple clamps. I also had a fork brace fitted that I had made by an aircraft engineer friend. They worked great and were so much more solid under braking than the 37's. The only difficulty that I had with them...

All this talk about Stator drinking has reminded me of a song titled "The Pub With No Bear". Some of the Aussies will probably know of it.
