A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

18 motorcycle crashes in one day at Sturgis Rally in South Dakota

Here's why I avoid these guys like an STD on the road. I hope this link works: 18 motorcycle crashes in one day at Sturgis Rally in South Dakota Not to beat a dead horse, but could a little training be too much to ask? Note that every single incident was 100% rider screw-up. Perhaps a little...

    High Headwinds Stutter

I had the identical problem with an '82 GS850 I had. Drove me nuts. Primarily diagonal headwinds (crosswinds) would cause this-- as you noted, around 10:00 or 2:00.. I could punch the throttle and get plenty of smooth acceleration; what I couldn't get was steady power to maintain a constant...

Mikuni BS/CV and VM O-ring Kits

Non-US members might recall my approach to international shipping -- I used my envelope printer software to include the message "Here's your O-ring Samples" across the lower left of the envelope. It was remarkably effective; I never had a single envelope returned for customs shenanigans.

Should I Offer Carb O-ring Kits For Sale?

I don't have any complaints with Paypal as far as the basics of the transactions were concerned; however, in the interest of your own sanity, I would highly suggest avoiding Paypal Shipping at all costs. It's likely to seem easier and simpler than using an external shipper, but by an EASY...

    update on my 1100GK

Aside from a dash of possible embarrassment, let's compare the cost of a teardown & rebuild to that of an occasional quart of oil and maybe, maybe a fouled plug now and then. That GK should have plenty of grunt to keep you grinning, with some to spare, even if it's not 100%. My vote: Wait...

    O-ring size

That's a good thing, because I gave you the wrong AS568 number! The -010 is the correct size for the fuel tubes, not the inlet seat. For that, a -903 fits perfectly. This size equates to 7.65mm ID x 1.63mm cross section, which is extremely close to what you have.

-010 (Dash 10) in AS568, Buna only. Should be readily available.

Red Loctite on fuel mixture screws.

Makes me wonder what kind of sick saboteur would put red loctite on mixture screws...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

6 degrees F? Wow, you win. I've ridden in the lower 20's back when my original GS850 was my only transportation, dodging ice patches, but 6? And it looks like I missed any post about that cute little wire-wheeled Suzy in the picture!

    650 gs carbs...Steve?

I have a whole rack of CV, origin unknown. Free for the hauling. These have been stored indoors for about 20 years. The screws on these have proven stubborn; I could ungang #1 to cut down on shipping cost. (What Suzukis came with CV's with tops that had "Mikuni Corporation" cast into them...

    Cycleorings has ceased operation

I've been remiss in not expressing thanks for all the positive sentiments. I really appreciate it. I go in Monday at Hines VAH for an angiogram and maybe a little more cardiac plumbing so I'm fit, cardiac-wise, for major surgery. I found a top-flight thoracic surgeon who might - probably will...

    O-ring sizes, as promised.

First, the intakes. These are ALWAYS Viton. Anything else will burn. These are known as 'dash' sizes, an AS-568 sizing scheme. It does keep things simple... 28mm = -122 aka 'Dash 122'. And so on. 30mm = -123 32mm = -125 38mm = -128 40mm = -130 Metric sizes: Are specified by INNER...

    Cycleorings has ceased operation

The timing was medically necessary; I have acquired a case of Stage III -x (TBD) lung cancer, with a tumor slightly larger than a league baseball in my upper right lung. It's encroaching on some vital pulmonary passages, causing bouts of nonstop coughing. I've been using what little traces of...

New Owner of 1980 GS450 - Carb Help Needed

Nitrile will be fine. You need the Viton for the intake O-rings, since they are in direct contact with the cylinder head. Even then, they don't last much beyond 6 - 8 years, IME.

New Owner of 1980 GS450 - Carb Help Needed

There are Suzi twins that use basically the same carbs as their inline-4 cousins. The 80-82 450's aren't in that category -- they're entirely different. Hence the separate kit. For your emulsion tube, you need a 1.1mm x 3.1mm (cross section by ID). I've tried O-rings that were extremely...
