    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • Rsquire, good morning and greetings from Rosemont.....just south of Folsom Blvd and a wee bit East of Watt.......

Came across your beautiful GS 1100E posts. I have owned my 83 GS 1100E since new. I have done all maintenance and upgrades myself.....initial 600 mile service and an under warranty cracked cylinder replacement are the only exceptions.

Carburetors and popping and idle increases when warm etc..... I know of what you speak. Mixture screws and highest idle or smoothness....understood. My GS retains factory exhaust and airbox. I upped main jet to 115. Pilots at present are 45. Had 47.5 for a while....seems I could not 'adjust out' what appeared to be a slightly rich condition.

I recently purchased a complete ED. Bit of a basket case to be resurrected soon. Is a runner.....12,870 miles.....non op status at present...and previously for about 15 years......maybe more.

Anyway, if I can be of service to you or share experience etc. glad to be of assistance.

My post count is low.... That said, I initially joined this forum October 2006. 800 plus posts. Mostly tech related. Fell of the ledger 4 years or so ago....'delisted' ...no activity. Anyway... Grand Rouge has been handle forever.....

At 76, I ride a few times a week. Have an 05 Honda ST1300 for a bit of a change of pace. Was a project too....pretty sweet now.

Thank you so much for reaching out! I’m a younger GS owner (I think, bikes older than me at 32 haha). I’m a bit of a lone wolf with this bike, so this forum is absolute gold to me. How cool that you’re in the area! I’ll be posting some more updates soon on recent upfits.

That 83 is beautiful! As an 82 owner, I’m a bit jealous (hence my wheel upgrade haha). It was lucky to be so well taken care of. Seems like your new venture will be running through a similar restoration path as mine did. I have no idea what baseline should be on these bikes for a number of things, so your knowledge as an original owner would be amazing!

Glad to hear you’re hitting the road so often. I’m currently working through a hip injury that is keeping me from long rides, but hoping to get some quality, albeit short runs in as the weather cools.

Will be bringing it out in a few weeks and maybe we can grab some coffee or something!

Again, thanks for your time and kind words.
