    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just a quick introduction, I used to be a member here in 2016ish, I had a GS850 and this was a great site for info on that as I was rebuilding it. I rode it for a while and another bike caught my eye, I sold it but regretted it.

I just picked up a museum quality GS1100E, It belonged to a good friend of mine who meticulously maintained it and stored it in a climate controlled shop it's entire life.

Its sat a few years but was stored properly and shouldn't take much more than some new rubber and a carb freshening to be road worthy again.

I'm super excited, this was a dream bike when I was a teenager and this is almost like getting a new one, 40 years later.

It has 30k on the clock.

I'm in Mansfield Ohio.

First Welcome back, glad you're here, looks like you did good. Second, like him, what are you using for the clothes rack, we're not nosey, just want to know! No doubt, love all GS1100's, but always wonder why made one this fugly color, same color as mine. Hard to tell where body stops and seat, eng., carbs, air box, exhaust, instruments, shocks (thank goodness yours have been changed), handlebars, mirrors start. No contrast except swingarm and peg mounts. You may have guessed I'm not fond of the color, but looks a very nice bike.........Except color.

That picture is in my buddy's shop and the clothes rack is a Bandit 1200, his current bike. It's super clean too but a preoccupied teen ran into him recently and the fairing is a little scuffed up now. He's limping but OK.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm glad this resource is still here, forums in general are a dying breed.

Here's a pic of my old 850 that I regret selling.

rphillips- I was never a fan of blacked out bikes, I'd rather have more contrast too.. whaddaya do though? :ROFLMAO:

That's my favorite of all E's though. I like the black exhausts, engine and the body colour. There's a butt for every seat as they say. I've been thinking of changing my 82 to look like that.
 
Of course, it's just an (my) opinion. The above black GS 850 with plenty of contrast looks waaay better than the dark, dank 1100 with no contrast, both are quite depressing to me. I like lighter happier color bikes, my "83" Honda CB1100 F, in red and white, and my 2005 Suzuki Bandit, in blue and white sure look good. .... Why do I even have the dark, dank "83" GS1100 and a "98" Bandit in dark, dank hunter green, also with little contrast, I didn't like their looks when I bought them.. Like said Doug, you did good.
