A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I can't tell from your avatar. Is your GK silver on black?
Because I was cleaning out the travel trunk and found your gloves again, and I thought I'd mail them back to you. And yes, everything is for sale -- if you want it badly enough!
Well, that explains why the header bolts cooperated for me. I was dreading those but they came right out. I'm about 99.9% certain that I've found the source of the noises (plural). I'm betting you reassembled the exhaust the way you found it. There are the semi-circular inserts (collets, or plates as the dealer called them) that were installed incorrectly, which prevented the inner two pipes from coming anywhere near sealing. I'll have photos soon, much easier to see the problem than describe it. I've ordered all new parts and I should have the mystery solved by the end of the week. I've put up with that racket for so long now, I'm going to be ecstatic if this fixes it once and for all. Has your mailing address changed?
Hey, I'm wondering -- I still haven't discovered the source of that tap, but do you know if the PO ever had the exhaust off of this bike? Maybe for a 4 into 1, or -- who knows? I really suspect that noise (and that racket once you're up to speed and give it throttle) is an exhaust leak.
I'd like to see some higher resolution photos of your thousand.

... and could the bike remain in your garage until it's warm enough to ride home (Joliet, IL, south of Chicago ... about 300 miles). April, maybe. I moved one of these in the winter using a pickup truck a few years ago, and it was no fun at all. You get paid right away, of course, and I'll include a reasonable storage fee.

I had a GS850 that I bought brand new in 1979 -- red, of course -- and this specimen looks tempting.

Anyway, if you have some better quality photos, use robert@cycleorings.com & email away. Thanks.

Oh, yeah -- now I remember! You're somewhat familiar with the destination, aren't you!

Hey do you still have the rack for sale? I live in West Mitlon just up the road from Dayton. Just let know, needing a rack. Thanks
    Hey ddaniels,
Sound like it been a long time since you lived in Joliet, do you ever get back in the area? That looks like a nice Black/Gray 82 you got there, have you had it long?
As for my engine covers a lot of wet sanding and polishing, you have to do something over the long cold winters.
