I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Howdy,
I was reading the slipper clutch mod thread on the GS 1000, saw your post that you were about to attempt it and wondered what happened? I want to do it myself and wondered if you had success.
If you care to update I would be interested to hear!
    Thanks,
    Oliver

Hi, was checking out the post where you mentioned converting your fuse panel over to this

"I fitted one of these to my GS1000. Has 6 fuses, LED to show if fuse has blown and a built in SPG for all the ground wires. Works great.

    https://www.amazon.com/Electop-Indic...B2ZTXQQ6G4B2G6"

I picked up the same one for my 650gl and im trying to wire it in and find myself confused a bit on how to deal with the separation between the fuses on the original panel. How did you deal with that? Did you ad a relay?
Anything you could pass along would be a great help! Thanks

Hi, get yourself a wiring diagram, it makes things a whole lot clearer. connect the main orange switched wire to the + on the fuse box then connect the 3 seperate circuits on the original fuse box to the outputs on the new fusebox. hope this helps.

Hi Adrian, do you happen to know what thread size the rear sprocket holding nuts are on the GS1000, just trying to source some off ebay. They mention a M10 x 1.25 and a M10 x 1.50
    G
It is a standard 130/90/17 GS1000 tyre in there, the original sprocket that was taken off many moons ago did have the rubber cushioning either side. Presumably it is the 6mm spacer that adjusts for a sprocket without the thickness of the cushioning.
    G
Many thanks Adrian, I am going to give your combo a whirl my friend. I have just taken some pics of what I found once removing the old sprocket, there was a 6mm hardened plastic spacer between the sprocket and the bearing bush, shows a bit clearer in the pics, if you could take a look http://www.minimotos4u.com/gs1000.htm
Once I get the new 530 setup, the sprocket goes straight up against the bearing boss and the new 6mm spacer goes in front of the sprocket is that right?
    G
Sorry for that Adrian been getting a little confused. You are right. The 18/50 530 is near to stock gearing as possible. So to give me that bit of extra punch could go with 17/50 combo (clearance on pivot okay) that would give a final drive of 2.94. Checking through gear commando hypothetically that would reduce top speed from 132 to 125mph. What are your thoughts my friend.

    Dave
but that would give you a 2.77 final drive ratio. which is not what you are looking for if you want more acceleration out the corners, whereas the 17/48 i run gives a ratio of 2.82 which is slightly better for acceleration.
    G
Thanks for the reply, I run a Metmachex swinging arm which is very slightly bigger than stock so may go for the 18 front and 50 rear combo for a bit more clearance.

Hi Adrian, just sorting out a 530 chain conversion for the GS1000. Are you using the 530 chain. I am looking just to give it a little more punch out of the corners, at moment it is a standard 15 - 42 sprocket setup on a 630 gauge chain. Been talking with Z1 and they say the equiv 530 setup is 18 - 50. Just wondering if I go for 17 tooth front if there will become chain clearance on the swinging arm probs.

    Regards
    Dave
