All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • Hey Rob, I'd just as soon not put this out there about Chuck's bike for sale, but the step in the seat should be 2" or less, looks like somebody cut quite a bit out of the front, and no it hasn't just squished down that much. Center stand folded way too far forward, looks like it'd be hard to get it off center stand without help. Rear springs are wound way tighter than the OEM... Remember, as always just my opinion... Also for me, I've always liked the spoked wheel (standard) models better.

Rob, didn't want to put it out there, picture of the week ain't the Vortex. But NY has Lititia James and you think Tennessee folks have got their heads screwed on backwards???
    Hi Rob,

I don't want to post this because the guy I got the bikes from is a member of the forum and not sure what people would say to him. He GAVE me two complete '83s. He struggled with getting the carbs dialed, had Dynojet kit on, and K&N pods. Had tons of jets and about 8 sets of spare carbs. I returned it to bone stock as he had the air boxes, and original pipes (both do, in fact). It still hiccuped in low RPM, and I figured out it was the cheap Chinese knock-off coils. I put in a relay and swapped in one of the two sets of originals. It runs perfect. I like the power delivery of the bike with an air box better, it has better response. Those carbs were designed to run with a plenum chamber. You can get more HP out of pods and a pipe, just not my thing. Both are now titled in my name. Both have 20K miles. I have tons of NOS bits and bobs, and spare exhaust. I painted the wheels black, like the look. That and superbike bars are the only thing not 100% original.

He was happy to have it go to a good home, didn't want a flipper to get it. He's well off and had inherited a '79 Trans Am (silver, with that Olds 403 and automatic...) and then bought the new Suzuki GSX-S1000GX+. LIves next to Rod Laver and has peacocks running all over in Rancho Santa Fe.

We chat a lot and i'm gonna ride down next weekend to let him have a spin. It runs like a brand new bike and is plenty fast for me. I put Ferodo organic pads on it and painted the engine and other stuff, clear coated the tank too. It has Ikon (Koni) adjustable shocks and the front has emulators and I put in Sonic springs - a bit too stiff for my liking but gonna adjust as possible.

    Wow - lucky you!
Apparently we lost the last few posts from Saturday morning. At least one vote posting, plus the tally, winner, and the new theme is gone.

My original tally sheet is below, with Rob S as our winner.

Rob, we need you to give us that theme again.....
