DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Breaker Points or Dyna Innition

If I were you I'd start with the new points and condensors first. Make sure that they are gapped correctly and timed to spec., and see how your bike performs. Don't forget to lube the rubbing blocks. Then check to see IF you've got a good strong spark at that time on each of of the leads to your...

    Breaker Points or Dyna Innition

I recently had ignition problems with my 79' GS850. 1 Condensor went bad and both coils were leaking. One coil was breaking down badly when it got hot, leading to intermitent spark on 2-3 cylinders about 15 min. into a ride. I choose to purchase a new points set from Z1 Enterprises, 2 of their...

    Replacement coils

I recently had a problem with my GS850 with the OEM coils leaking and failing when they got hot. I ordered some new Dyna coils, point/condensors, and Dyna wires through these guys: http://www.z1enterprises.com/ and was happy with their products and service. This past winter I ordered some...

    1979 GS850 recall

I just recently found out there is an outstanding safety recall on my Suzuki. Appartently the were about 5900 units covered under this recall. I've owned the bike for 18 years and just recently came across this while browsing the net. A call to US Suzuki confirmed the recall but the part to fix...

Sito exhaust - anyone tried it?

The Sito mufflers look, sound, and fits great on my 79' GS850GN! A much better alternative to the "fits-alls" and "weed burner" options out there. GS1000S

    engine screws ??

Valve lapping compound added to tip of the driver also helps it hang onto fastener for removal. I replaced all my side cover screws with SS allen head fasteners and applied anti-seize to threads.

    GS850 tires?

Hello, I'm looking to put a new set of tires on my 79' GS850. It now has Dunlop 491 Elite 2 in a mm90-19 front and a MT90B-17 rear. I've been happy with these tires but it appears they've been discontinued by Dunlop. Dunlop has a D404 replacement tire in a 100(90)-19 and 130(90)-17...

Running on 2 cylinders no spark at right point set

The purpose of the points is to provide a ground for the primary side of the coil. The condensor is designed to store electrons internally when the points open and allow the primary field in the coil to collapse and produce the spark. Condensors do fail occasionally but not often. I'd...

#2 amd #3 cylinder stopped firing

You might want to clean that set of points with something like a piece of fine sandpaper doubled up and pulled back and forth. The may have a built up layer of oxidation on them impeding current flow. Also, are they opening and closing like the other set? While running I can see both set of...

    77 GS550, junkyard dog....

You might try heating the screw with a soldering gun or a small gas torch before trying to remove. Another trick is to heat the area around the screw and cool the screw itself with a good penetrating oil before attempting to remove it. Valve lapping compound can give some extra grip in a...
