A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

OK…Turns out, much easier than that 750E… once the right method was sorted it’s a breeze. For anyone who ever needs to do it in the future, here’s the jam: remove battery remove battery box remove carbs remove carb intake boots remove cam chain tensioner remove starter cover remove sprocket...

GS450 Airbox install... what is the secret?

Thank you... that's encouraging... I'll try removing the clutch cable and try to get in there from the left before pulling the motor... from the right I felt like I was going to crack the box or loose a tab if I applied any more force...

GS450 Airbox install... what is the secret?

Well I'm hoping that someone with GS twin experience will show up with a magic puzzle solution because I really don't want to have to enter her in any immoral or rough way... So far the spacial geometry indicates to me that it's either: engine out, frame mods or pods That said, been wrong...

GS450 Airbox install... what is the secret?

Totally different animal here... 750 walks itself in by comparison. This is probably a problem unique to solid airbox twins with this frame & motor.

GS450 Airbox install... what is the secret?

Hi all, Midst of a 1980 GS450E rehab... the bike came without an airbox and thought, I'll just hunt down the parts and bring it back to it's factory intended set-up... So, over the winter managed to track down the box, boots & snorkles on ebay. Now the rest of the bike is ready... carbs are...

    GS1100G (1982) Propshaft Bolts

Will be interested to know how you end up getting them torqued correctly when this happens... could a short wobble extension get it done?

    Stuffing an 850 in a 650.

Here in the western world, most of us ride motorcycles because we enjoy the ride not just because we need to get somewhere. Mosly when I ride, I'm not going anywhere and... I'm smiling. It doesn't have to make sense to be a fun project. So the question becomes. Is it worth doing it for the...

GS550: About oil leaks and resealing the top end

Why skimp on the base gasket if you already are doing the head and the seals etc was the point. $30ish extra beyond what he was already doing... only adding base gasket, circlips, 2 o-rings to the list. A bargain to go the distance rather than try to leave the cylinder undesturbed .

GS550: About oil leaks and resealing the top end

A 40 year old dried up base gasket that has delt with thermal expansion? Replacing the rings is not mandatory if they are in spec... they will probably check out ok with that milage so, the question boils down to a smart-shopper 30$ gamble on a base gasket, the 2 o-rings & 4 circlips... (if...

Goldwing? What are the usual suspects to watch out for ???

Any bike that has been sitting for 6 years is to be considered a project. Bought a running, driving, registered & inspected '84 gl1200 and still speant a grand in parts on before we took it out of the parking lot. (no regrets, it ran like a hero for years after that, went cross country...

14 year old me from 1982 thinks that is gawdy-awsome! IME the XJ bikes have always been easy to bring back to life... never had a turbo to play with though. I dig it!

    3D Printed Velocity Stacks

If material is fuel resistant there would be a market for intake boots that would take different carbs... long ago lost count how many posts I have seen where folks have asked about putting VM carbs on bikes that came with CV carbs. Eitherway... cool on you for your efforts so far!

    Bringing a 78 GS 550 back to life. . .

That "Black Cherry" color is killer... How are you going to approach that banged up throat on the #4 carb? or is there enough left to still get a airbox pipe clamped on tight without messing with it too much?

GS550 with new coil relay mod & dyna-s timing + coils is now blowing fuses

Please start with mentioning what year GS550 we are considering. Early and later models have different ignition and charging systems, so that would be a help. As for the fuses going "pop" have you searched for exposed wires on those circuts? Inspected the back of the fuse box for...
