A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Just bought A Beemer

To GS1150Pilot, when changing the final drive gear oil, make darn sure to inspect the magnetic piece in the drain plug. DAMHIK, but BMW was famous for not making sure the shimming process was properly done. The ones that fail were mostly shimmed too tight. The guy that overhauled mine claims...

Attrition in available tires for 1000G What is recommeded now?

Last week I ordered a new Avon for my Triumph and when it arrived, the date code showed it to be 2 years, 4 months old. I contacted the place I purchased it from and was told any tire under 3 years old is considered "new". This supplier was CHAPARRAL motorsports out of southern California...

Attrition in available tires for 1000G What is recommeded now?

FWIW, speaking of Avons, I was told recently that they are going to stop producing tires. At least for m/c. Probably already known by most of you but I must have forgot it if I did know it before.

Attrition in available tires for 1000G What is recommeded now?

I hadn't noticed that. Fortunately, I have a new 230 model to go on the front as soon as the present one goes bald. It's nearly there.

sounds like a plan to me.

Attrition in available tires for 1000G What is recommeded now?

Can't go wrong with Shinkos. Excellent grip wet or dry, very good handling in the twisties but short lived on the mileage. Good thing about that is you can install new tires each season and what better feeling than new tires. As far as the mileage goes, expect 4-7 thousand miles. YMMV.

    Hello from Nebraska

What a small world eh? I live just a 1/4 mile north of 168th and Giles. Couple hours west of here huh? That would be in the G.I. area I guess. I do get out there quite often.

    Hello from Nebraska

Welcome to the forum. My 1st Suzuki was an 850 as well. Bullet proof bike in spite of it's weight, is a great model for touring. I see your location is posted as central Nebraska. I am located on the western edge of the Omaha metropolitan area and would enjoy meeting up in person sometime...

what did you wrench on today??

No wrenching for me today as I have about 8" of snow to remove from the driveway and sidewalks. But as soon as I can get to it, this is what I have to wrench on next. IMG_20230213_165537462 by Larry Alkire, on Flickr IMG_20230213_165733019 by Larry Alkire, on Flickr IMG_20230215_153222817 by...

    Carb choke plungers

I also used his service and my results are wonderful. The bike now returns to the proper idle speed when I come to a stop. No blipping of the throttle is necessary. I would be a big endorser of his fine service.

    Polaris SH775 Opinions??

I have the same one that Ron referenced and it is a good one. The one you saw on EBAY does not have enough pictures to tell if it is a genuine SH775.

I was looking for a winter project.........I found this!

That's turning out to be a beautiful job. We may have to discuss a trade down the road. I think you would look good on a 19 year newer bike made by some of the best engineers in Germany.:lemo:

I was looking for a winter project.........I found this!

Good looking pipe Ron. You'll have to do a video of it's sound when you get it running. I've heard they are quite loud. Badass would be a better term. Anxiously waiting to see and maybe ride this beast.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Sorry, no pics but I enjoyed a father/son ride yesterday and today I sent him back to Honolulu. I offered him the choice between the triumph and the bmw and he choose the bmw. Actually I sort of forced him to ride the bmw just to make him aware of the great German engineering...

Restoration GS1100E Trying to keep it Original Appearance

From what I have gleaned after reading many, many, many tire threads on this forum, you would be wise to omit the Kenda brand completely.
