A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    80 850 troubles

If your petcock's prime doesn't want to work (your's probably just has the screwdriver slot on it, as does one of my bikes), then just unplug the vacuum hose where it's connected at the carb and suck on it for about 10 seconds or so to open the vacuum valve and fill your bowls. No gas will come...

    Newbie: Assorted questions on GS1100(GL?)

Hi Xuare, Welcome to the forum! You will probably be flogged for even the mere mentioning of doing what you want to with the 1100, but that'll come later...........when you least expect it! :D :D In any case, here's some answers to your questions: 1. The oil marks, hard to say without...

Still leaking oil....I want to burn this bike sooo bad....

Where in the world are you getting water from? (I assume you don't mean after riding in the rain) Can you clean/degrease the engine some, and then get a better idea where the leak is coming from? Or take some pics to post?

Starter motor exchange 750/1000/1100 bit of a hurry.

    Sorry I can't answer for sure, Robin...but looks like something is different. Cyclewareables.com rebuilds starters, and they list 2 different part numbers (see below) GSXR1100 93-96 CWSS-15 $290 GS550 2-BRUSH 80-82 CWSS-16 $290 GS650E 2-BRUSH 81-82 CWSS-16 $290 GS750E 2-BRUSH 80-83...

    70s GS750 really this undergeared?

I thought that 15 front and 41 rear was stock on the 750? (that and 96 links) 8O 8O What number do the new ones have? I was surprised when I first read this, because the '78 750E I did up a few years ago was geared much better than my 80 850L. You could take it a nice 'low' rpm on the...

    Rubbing sound from front end?

Probably just the pad. Take the pad off and swirl it around on a somewhat rough concrete surface (driveway?) for a while....roughen it up a bit, that'll take care of that squeak/squeal.

Tach. Cable drive in head will NOT stop leaking!

Go further up to earlier post....Bwringer put up an excellent link with pictures to show you how to replace "all" seals. Not to worry, it's a very simple job, hard to mess up.

    Filter Housing Cover

I was originally thinking about doing something like that, or making one with a piece of plexiglass, with a slight groove routered/routed on it to fit well, and riveting a metal tab on it to fit into the slot.

Tach. Cable drive in head will NOT stop leaking!

Did you take out the whole tach gear housing, and replace "all" the oil seals, or just the one in the front?

Does anyone have experience in making a cover for their airbox housing? I am missing the cover off of mine ('82 1100e). You can't buy just the cover, only the entire housing assembly from the distributors. So, I wanted to see if anyone had any tips as far as making one, or if maybe someone...

    Need help, carb overflow problem

Marcello, Try and test the carb rack on a bench first. I have 4 little clear plastic drawers (from one of those cabinets for holding assorted hardware), that are just a little wider than the floats on the carbs. I can put the assembled rack right on top of those and then start putting fuel...
