    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    the HD backing kit really needs installed by a professional with the jigs and tig welding experience. either that or buy a good used already modified HD basket for an 80-83 1100 16 valve.

    ouch!!!! lesson learned.... these bikes do 2 things.... spin the alt. rotor and blow up the clutch basket. do you ride like miss daisy? never spin it close to red line? never shift aggressively? if you answered yes to the 1st question and no to the rest then you'll probably be ok. but.... if so...

    rotor taper and crank taper. if the parts are still usable you be able to red lock tite the taper and assemble with an impact and let it hammer for a few seconds. then try to spin the large SC gear and see if it still turns one way freely(with idler/pin- gear removed). if it does let it sit...

    one bolt or screw and spin/pull at the same time...the oil may have a lock on it but it will come out unless the needle bearing cage has went south. also steady the basket when doing as i said. added: get someone to rock the engine back and forth with a 19mm box end wrench on the ignition...

    hi joe! as with anything that runs rough/herks-jerks at idle.. this will make parts like the starter clutch rattle/try to engage a little. you are right...carb balance/fouled plug(s) air leaks ect..

    "APE" type filters are sold by a few businesses.. i used to buy all mine from Don Plesser Racing....aka PR factory store...great guy! http://www.prfactorystore.com/ these are by no means K&N's but they work very well for the money saved. we called them "2-1/4" offset ovals".

    red lock tight is your friend... the problem is...when things are wore to much the entire assembly will bind and spin the guts out of your starter...quite ugly when it happens..

    in a pinch on a used bike...not a high dollar project people shave the seals... add sealer and nock them in and cross there fingers.

    as you should be... 104/114 is goofy. set your 20 pins and check again. the more you do it...the more sense it makes. hell it would take me a while to get warmed up again from not degreeing cams for a couple years. a cam card is your friend...always check your wheel if it's at or before...

    ignition timing has nothing to do with it. i also believe cam motions are checked at .040 valve opening's and closing's unlike webs that are checked at .050 at least my G10's was ground that way.
