I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    1983 GS1100E Clutch parts questions

Well...still a clutch fiber thread...but..... I have owned an 81 and an 82 1100E (both purchased new as well)..... both sold 15 years ago..... My 83, owned since new and in my garage right now.....was faster / quicker than the other two. No magazine editor stuff...straight up, 3 factory stock...

    1983 GS1100E Clutch parts questions

I am thinking you already know the answer...;) To ensure proper clutch pack height in spec, go with the 9 thicker fibers.

    1983 GS1100E Clutch parts questions

Exactly. What do you think...with the (apparent) horse power and torque increase with the 1983 E model did the engineers figure an extra 10 percent increase in friction area (10 fibers not 9) was necessary? Well, overkill for sure....including some basket grooving. Went with tried and true in...

    1983 GS1100E Clutch parts questions

Steels and fibers: The fibers as shown in above FbG link are the ones ya want...... 1983 had the thinner fibers due to the core.....that puts grooves in the basket. Some 1982's may have had those as well. BUT....the GS 1150.....same fibers and steels as the 1980 and 81 GS 1100 so safe and good...

    1983 GS1100E Clutch parts questions

I replaced the fiber discs in my owned since new 1100ED. The 83 had /has the extra fiber disc....one year only. The thinner metal core of the fiber discs do put grooves in the clutch basket...sometimes enough to require basket replacement. I installed Fast by Gast fibers. I re used original...

    Exhaust temps

My IR reader indicates "room temperature" with motorcycle in garage sitting couple of days. Aiming for header pipe at top bend because easy to 'sight". 30 seconds and more after start up choke off, idle and reving to 4,000 or so.....with my freshly totally rebuilt and vac synced and mixture...

    Shifter pedal rod linkage adjustment

If I understand your question / observation correctly, the slop you are referring to is where the heim joint assembly meets the lever that slides onto the transmission shaft? Had same issue with my owned since new 83. Solution was to remove the shifter assembly and weld (on the back side) the...

Is the clutch sleeve or inner hub supposed to move on the axle?

Just a thought re replacing Hub: When I did the proper clutch basket spring and rivet mod / repair on my 83 1100, I replaced the Hub as well. I installed an 1150 unit. I do not recall details other than for sure the spline assembly more robust than the 1100 hub. I believe there is a thread or 2...

83 GS650, fourth time carbs in!

IF your GS is a Canadian spec model, the Needles are adjustable....5 positions I think. third notch most common with stock airbox and stock / close to stock exhaust. Additionally, if stock airbox installed, are the carb intake to airbox runners / boots properly slid in place?

    GS Front Fork Swap
