If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

The Beast had RS36 carbs until an hour ago, with 2 throttle cables. I purchased a nice set of 1100 carbs from one of "us" here at GS R. The CV carb bikes have just one cable? Really? My 79 1000L had 2 cables... The RS36 carbs had 2 on my bike... Am I worrying about nothing? or is there a...

Fresh paint on top. Buffing wheel and metal polish in electric drill on aluminum side covers. ( on floor by bike in picture ) it's nice, nut not show quality. Never will be. I didn't even take the covers off to polish them! ( too lazy) What metal polish? glad you asked! Simichrome is my...

Helpful info for removing stuck fork bolt

Changing fork seals on your GS? First, you'll want to see this: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/cbsaunders/gs/Fork_Seal_Replacement_GS850GT.pdf If you have the bolt stuck in the bottom of your fork, like BikeCliff and I did, you might have luck with this: Make yourself a long 19mm tool...

Rusty Rider new fork seals, retaining spring won't fit w/ flat washer, leave it out ?

Seal is bottomed out, seems these seals are .005 - .010" taller (thicker) than what came out. There is a flat aluminum washer between the seal and the funky spring /circlip that holds the seal in place. Some bike don't have that washer, mine does. Or did. Can I just leave the washer out and put...

cleaning the seal grooves in front calipers

My 80 GS1000G has rust on both front caliper pistons. The bores in the calipers look great. New piston kits getting ordered. The grooves in the calipers that the seals go in have "aluminum crud"... badly. Any advice for getting them clean enough to let a new seal ..err... seal ??? (BTW-...

Advice for fixing "spongy" front master cylinder after attaching and bleeding ?

Before you spend more money on parts, borrow ( or buy) a vacuum bleeder. ($20 version works, but $30 one is worth it if you work on your car brakes yourself) I threw $400 in parts ( rebuild master, new master, new slave) at my VT750C hydraulic clutch before I realized you can NEVER bleed the air...
