A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    shim club

Thanks. I'll look into 4into1. The best price I could find so far has been $13 each and $15 for postage.

    shim club

Does anyone know if the Shim Club is still in operation? I need (2) 2.60 shims for my '82 1100G and am hoping to avoid the online prices.

1982 GS1100G valve clearance specs needed

Thanks! I had a feeling that you'd be the one to response. In fact, I came close to PMing you 1st. Thanks for not letting me down. ;) Btw, is the clearance the same for both intake and exhaust? I thought they were different. Also, fwiw, I checked the bringer.com site before starting this thread...

The title says it all. I've searched about everywhere imaginable and have yet to find the answer to my question. That's why I started this thread. Thanks in advance for each and every response. ;)

    Best Parts websites?

Having owned a couple of GS G's with stock airbuses, I'm all too familiar with the age related problems that they suffer. Thanks though, for making sure I was aware of them. Interesting story behind my getting this bike. Short version being that I had a soft spot for it having ridden the length...

Replacement advice needed for '82 1100 OEM air filter element

The title says it all. The housing is intact but the foam is crumbling. Just learned via an online parts search that the OEM filter element is NLA. Anyone know of an aftermarket thats still available? Thanks!

    Best Parts websites?

I turned to the GSR for advice now that I'm in need of an air filter element for the '82 1100G I picked up last month. Went to Onlinecycleparts 1st https://www.onlinecycleparts.com/oemparts/a/suz/50d40437f8700230d8b4ecf6/air-cleaner They don't sell air filter elements but I thought part number 6...

    Cycleorings has ceased operation

I PMed Robert a couple weeks ago, asking if someone had taken over the business. I also mentioned that I'd give it serious consideration if it was still available. Haven't received a response.

    Clearcoat removal question

I considered removing it with a Scotch Bright pad but didn't want to damage the underlying finish. I agree with your comment though re: having to deal with the environmentally hazardous waste. In addition, I have enough chemicals on the shelves of my shop that I'd prefer to be without. None the...

    Cycleorings has ceased operation

I wouldn't be surprised if its been over a decade since I did business with you and now, find myself needing an O-ring kit for the '82 1100G I bought today. That lead me to this thread and to respond. I am so sorry to hear of your initial diagnosis and am thankful that you have such a good team...

Thanks guys. I picked the G up this morning and hope to start working on it in the not too distant future. I'm planning on starting a resto thread in the appropriate area.

    Clearcoat removal question

Thanks Ed. I appreciate your advice. Fortunately, I have a very nice buffer, a Cyclo that I've gotten a lot of use out of polishing antique aluminum boats.

    Clearcoat removal question

So, I'm about to start another project. This one involves restoring an '82 GS1100G that I will be taking delivery of tomorrow. In the pictures the seller posted, I can see that the clear coat on the engine side covers has cracked to the point where there are large areas of bare aluminum...

    Identify this part

I agree that it's not a "part from" and apologize for not clarifying that, in my opinion, it's a tool of some sort associated with a r/r process. My buddy had an 1100 and was certain that he bought it to replace a seal on that bike, although he couldn't remember what seal. Fwiw, this whole...
