A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Brake light wiring question

You presumed correctly but reminded me of something I forgot to mention. I had the kill switch in the OFF position at all times (regardless of whether or not the key was in the ON position). And I agree, I definitely have some problems. With the bike as well. :)

    Brake light wiring question

This is a 2 part question but I'd like an answer to the 1st part, for now. I would like to know why I have about 6 volts going to the brake light before I squeeze the brakes. That 6 volts rises to battery voltage (approx. 12.2V) when I squeeze the brakes. The voltage is across the white wire and...

    GS Sightings

Every so often I pass a guy on a GS550 on Fort Henry Drive in Colonial Heights, TN . Buddy, if you're reading this I'd sure appreciate a PM from you. I'd like to meet you in person and commend you for riding in the temps you do. The last time I saw you was crossing the bridge below the dam. The...

    1974 Yamaha RD350 $2500 CO

Nice looking RD. Well worth the price if the mechanicals are okay. Good investment too, IMO. Both bikes would be a blast on the back roads. Tough choice. Good luck.

    trunk and windshield options

I had a K&G rack on an 1100G that I rode the length of Rte 66 many yrs ago. Had the matching trunk as well. I was very impressed with both its appearance and its build quality. Haven't seen one in awhile.

Going to the smokies next week

I've ridden all the routes you have highlighted but its been over 10 yrs since I was on 2 wheels on the routes encompassing C, D, E & F. I've done them since in my car or truck and liked them. F to B, if I'm not mistaken, includes the Cherohala Skyway. THAT road is one of my all-time favs when...

Going to the smokies next week

Marvin: Don't eat at the BBQ place in Sweetwater that is closest to I-75 if you're looking for good BBQ. Ate there on Tues and it was terrible. Wunderwoman: You have a PM. If you are not set on getting on the BRP in Asheville, consider taking I-81 north instead and exiting onto Rte 70 East to...

what did you wrench on today??

For me, its replacing the rubber inserts on the rear hub of my '88 Hawk GT. It has a single sided swingarm which makes things alot more trouble than the conventional swingarms that I've been spoiled by. I was surprised to learn that replacement of the rubber inserts is incredibly common. When I...

    Rifle Fairing

Thanks for the link. I guess I really shouldn't be as surprised as I am with the price. Everything else has, at least, doubled since the late 70's. Guess its only to be expected that fairings would as well. Still, sure looks nice. :) Willie

Top 10 Favorite Tools you have or use

Definitely some interesting responses on this thread. I read through them, agreeing with most and appreciative of a few as well. One item that I didn't see though was a pair of safety glasses. I'll admit that I rarely wear them but keep a pr in my box and have reached for them on occasion...

    Best polish for exhaust Revisited

I had to laff at the results of doing a Search Forum to find out what the best wax is for the exhaust system. It only found one result and it was a post from 2011 that was started by me. :D So, in the past 2 yrs, has anyone found a cleaner and/or polish for the OEM exhaust system, especially the...
