A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Condensation in the Oil

I'll try that (feeling hose temp) next time I'm warming a bit before I go. I took the oil cap off tonight to see if it'd dry out a bit in there (prob won't really). And I was thinking this morning, I could put some cardboard in front of (part of) the radiator like the truck drivers do in the...

    Condensation in the Oil

I was thinking that too, maybe. This one has always run at the very bottom of the "normal" range, come up maybe 1/3 of the entire range, then back down in cycles. On the ride home when I bought it (2 years ago) I noticed it coming up and thought oh shoot... but it was just normal operation...

    Condensation in the Oil

Yeah, I don't think it's gas. It's the ZX-11. I watched the temp gauge this evening, and on the highway it was right between cold and normal, or maybe 20% of the range, and I didn't see it change. It rose some under other conditions. It looks like it's just not getting hot enough. It was at...

    Condensation in the Oil

Can't remember which of my old Suzuki's had sight glasses for oil level check, but I know at least one did. I think the 450 was the only one with a dipstick... Anyway, My Kawi's got one, and I noticed this evening what I'd think is condensation, just a little white stuff in there. I've seen...

    Shim kits for valves?

I had one of the blue metal box Suzuki sets when I had my 850. I think I got if from eBay for $150?? That woulda been like 15 years ago or more. There's one on there now just doing a quick search for $250/best offer, but it's about half empty. I wanted a couple hundred bucks extra for it...

    Wheelie Recovery Technique?

I've not had any more surprises since that one. Been sort of thinking about the clutch-up technique and how that would work, but have not done it : ) I had to get out of the house the other night, and the night air was messing with my contacts. I pulled over on the side of the nearly empty...

    Too-Warm Rear Disc...

Onto the list of other stuff I'd rather not, but have to get to eventually I guess...

    Too-Warm Rear Disc...

I prob oughta put this in Tires and Brakes, but anyway. I think I know the answer to this (rebuild the caliper...), but I guess I'm kinda wondering what's not out of the question to just live with. I put new EBC pads in the rear caliper when I was putting the wheel back on with a new tire a...

    Wheelie Recovery Technique?

Lol. When I first started dabbling with it on the 450 (that's like over 25 years ago actually), I popped it right up off a red light one time at night, and came down painfully hard like that, lol. It didn't have the power to ride it out or maybe it needed some tuning.

    Wheelie Recovery Technique?

What kinda mph did that put you at through the 1/4? I was thinking "estimated time", but ET prob means elapsed time in that context (something you don't know yet at the starting line, lol).

    Wheelie Recovery Technique?

That wheelie school looks like fun. My son with the ZX-6R mentioned the rear brake too just now. Not as in from his own experience surely, but just knowing it. He did a big one on accident last year that hopefully cured him of getting careless with it. Is 9.09 the ET for the drag pic?

    Wheelie Recovery Technique?

Yep. I just realized it's kinda low on gas, and that 20 or so lbs makes a difference, believe it or not. If I was 50lbs lighter I'd have to really watch it, prob.

    Wheelie Recovery Technique?

Took the ZX-11 out today for a bit to make sure all was well prior to what looks like a decent riding week coming up (it had been sitting for a few weeks before that). Got a bit of a surprise when I pulled out onto the highway with a car in my lane but back a ways - Idk if I rolled on the the...

    Uneven Front Tire Wear

Got it done and back on. Had the new tire mounted at the dealership (I had a go with the spoons first, but not worth it; didn't even get the bead moved much, and wasn't going to jump up and down on it with the rotors still on, lol). They had the same idea (without me suggesting it), about left...

    Uneven Front Tire Wear

I guess I shoulda posted this in the "Other Q's" section, since it's not a GS... Seemed like the uneven wear thing might apply to anything when I started it though.

    Uneven Front Tire Wear

Picked up a set of hex sockets from O'Reilly's yesterday (with a 22mm, which worked great to break the axle [nut?] loose after loosening the pinch bolts on that side), and got this thing put together and tested. Seems to work. Pics are lousy, but it's sitting on the tube frame part that the...

    Uneven Front Tire Wear

It's a ZX-11. There's nothing there but oil cooler, then radiator; nothing solid. There are frame tubes on either side of the (crankcase), so a little farther back than I'd like to go. A cheap HF M/C jack with 2x4s on it to make it clear the exhaust pipes might work, but I don't have room for...

    Uneven Front Tire Wear

Looks like between 10- and 10,500. I've got to build a little cradle for the frame to jack the thing up. Otherwise, there's nothing to put the jack on except the bottom of the 4-1 exh (not gonna). The special part jack from Kawasaki is over $400 (Partzilla).

    Uneven Front Tire Wear

Good one... I'm pretty light on the rear brake too, generally.
