I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Any GS1100G owners out there with fork braces?

I just measured that distance this morning. Its close enough that the slots in the mounting holes allow for any difference, which appears to be very minimal. The problem I found was that the cross brace is mounted too low. The fender prevents it from making contact with the clamp on the fork...

Any GS1100G owners out there with fork braces?

Wow! NICE road and great picture! To answer your question re: my objective. I'm trying to improve the performance of the front forks. I've ridden alot of twisties with it, although none as twisty as the road in your picture, and have been very happy with it. However, riding my E shows me how the...

Any GS1100G owners out there with fork braces?

I am looking for a close up picture of a fork brace installed on an 1100G. I was hoping that the brace on my 1100E would fit my G but it doesn't clear the fender. I'd prefer not to lower the fender, if possible. Thanks, Willie

    New GS1100G owner

Welcome aboard and congrats on getting yourself an 1100G. I'm on my 6th or 7th 1100G now and love them. You have accessed the Motherlode of GS info by joining this forum. One of the 1st things you want to do is inspect the rear drive splines for wear. Grease them with some good hi moly content...

    GS650E adventure

Great pics, great idea and great story. Reminded me of the camping I did in NH decades ago while attending the races at Laconia. Thanks for sharing it.

    New GS Owner - 1982 GS1100GK

Welcome aboard. I suggest that you keep it original and discover how much you enjoy it that way. Then, if you want something similar but alot lighter, find a G or E w/o a windshield. Doing both worked very well for me ;) However, regardless of what you do, check the splines in the rear drive...

    RD 350 (not mine)

Nice resto and, IMHO, a very reasonable price. I've had several each of the RD models from the 250 thru the 400. I share knotscott's opinion. The 400 was a blast to ride. Willie

    Gs1100gk resurection project

Congratulations on your purchase and good luck with the resto. I restored a GK a few years ago and really enjoyed it. FWIW, I believe I have a few fairing parts (ie. front signal trim pieces and fairing compartments) that I will give you for the price of postage. PM me if you're interested in...

Bought my first motorcycle yesterday, 1980 GS550

Two things went through my mind when I read your post. Three, actually. Welcome to the GSR, NICE 1st bike and do yourself and your loved ones a favor by taking the MSF course. Everyone I know who has taken it was glad they did and continue to recommend it to friends. After checking the routine...

Suzuki GT750 Water Buffalo Smoker Modified

I have GOT to get mine back on the road! Now that I'm unemployed I finally have some free time. Maybe I'll be riding it this Summer after all. Willie

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Having owned a GK and presently having an 1100G with the same paint scheme, I agree 100%. Awesome looking GK! Willie

    Knock sound during start

I've been through the same thing with an 1100G I had awhile back. If I remember correctly, I wound up having to buy a stator puller to gain access to the starter clutch. I found one or two of the springs were shot, the pins were worn out and the cup everything resides in was deformed. I strongly...

    Brake light wiring question

Supports the old saying that you get what you pay for. :( FWIW, its the type of LED bulb that has a bunch of little yellow squares fastened to it and not the kind that have the conventional looking LEDs. I was going to attach a link of one from ebay but its several lines long.

    Brake light wiring question

Well that's not good.:( I prefer to think that the cheap-assed LED was causing a problem by "bleeding" voltage over into the brake light circuit from the running light circuit. Support of this idea is that, with a conventional bulb in place, there isn't any voltage present when I measure across...

    Brake light wiring question

Well guys, I have solved the mystery and thought you'd like to know what I found. Turns out I left out a key bit of information. I'd forgotten that I had replaced the rear taillight bulb (1157), with an LED unit. In fact, I forgot all about it until I removed the lens this afternoon and...

    Brake light wiring question

Good thinkin Combat. I know the bulb is correct but will make certain the front switch is good and clean. Should be already but worth a look to eliminate that as being the culprit. I'm also planning on disconnecting the front switch to see if it has any effect and then the rear switch. I'm...

    Brake light wiring question

Of course! Duh! Why didn't I think of that. Now as far as running the extra wire to get the taillight to work. That one works okay, its the brake light that I'm having issues with. Ah, what the h*ll. Brake lights are soooo over rated. The guy behind me will surely see that I'm slowing down. If...

    Brake light wiring question

Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I'll get back to it in a few days. I admit to being a puss when it comes to working in the cold. I was okay today with it being in the hi 30's but tomorrow is supposed to peak at 20. A little too cold, IMO, to be working in an unheated garage. I'll post an...
