A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Help me choose 1100e fork swap!

I will see if I have any pictures. I did use a hardware store bronze bushing to fill the gap between the stem and the Bandit top tree but I don't recall anything else.

Help me choose 1100e fork swap!

That is Rob Wilton. He is a member here. He was having some serious health issues a while back, I don't know if he is well and making parts again.

    I had a crash...a big one!

Doesn't BC have an absurdly low limit on damages from an accident? In the US they would be looking for the limit on your insurance, your house, your future income, and your first born. However, in Washington state you are only required to have 25k in coverage.

Help me choose 1100e fork swap!

Bandit 1200 1996-2000 RF900 Triple all years IIRC. Use the Bandit wheels so the speedo works. You need a Gen 1 Bandit speedo cable. It's cool to see all this work getting done and I don't have to lift a finger....

Back Into Bikes, '77 GS750 Project

The new bikes have not been ridden enough lately. Glad to see they went to a good home. I still have the Banditized '80 1260 Allen, the carbs on the red bike were off the 1260 when I put the RS carbs on so probably jetted way wrong. I can give you the 34mm carbs back if you want to clean them....

Help me choose 1100e fork swap!

Forgot to mention the Gen1 Bandit front wheel has provisions for speedo drive. All Bandit parts including cable work.... I had a G2 Bandit, the GS rides much the same. More comfortable ergos.

Help me choose 1100e fork swap!

I used a 3/8 offset 530 sprocket and the stock Bandit hub and some combination of Bandit\GS spacers. I used a 190 rear tire, I do not recommend it. The chain was slightly self clearancing ;). The Delkevic seems well made but discolors quickly. It is IIRC for an 82\83 and with the Bandit arm and...

    Pro Stock Suzuki..

Steve is a "hobby racer" according to some. That's what makes him so cool. Running on a shoestring, there every week except the week he ran out of parts. A "real" racer....

Help me choose 1100e fork swap!

RF900 lower tree is plug and play. I had a friend machine 2 simple swing arm bushings. Takes a LOT of weight off. Chain guard is a bit difficult, they weren't expecting dual shocks. http://network-pros.com/bike/80/112120.jpg

    First time on the dragstrip!

You are doing great! Way better than me, I am scared to launch decently with a stock wheelbase no bar bike. I am going out a week from Wednesday, hoping I do better. I have also lost 60+ pounds since last time I was out pre-Pandemic. Should be good for a couple tenths. And my leathers fit now...

And it's a HARLEY? https://www.cycleworld.com/story/motorcycle-reviews/2021-harley-davidson-pan-america-1250-special-first-ride-review/ This could be a game changer if they price it competitively. Going to really p!$$ off the old skool riders though.

What is the weight of a complete 1983 GS1100e engine vs Bandit 1200 engine?

Joe, It rides well once I preloaded the fork bearings a bit more to tame the wobble. The wheels are stock G1 Bandit maybe 3" and 5.5", 120-70\17 and 190-50\17. 180-55\17 would have been a much better choice. I needed to shave some of the tire off with a 3/8 sprocket. Tires are Shinko 003 front...

What is the weight of a complete 1983 GS1100e engine vs Bandit 1200 engine?

When I put Bandit forks, swingarm, and rims on my 1260e it made a very noticeable difference just in pushing it around. I think 50 pounds could be in the ballpark. It is a little scary to ride now, especially after getting off my stock one. Like you I didn't weigh the parts....
