A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

No pics here, (a few on FB) but I poked around town for a half hour plus.. The Abomination is just silly. It pulls nicely from low speeds but at its happy speed I could outrun it on foot. I'd assume that if it was connected to proper 26" wheels it'd have way more topend. I do like the low...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Rich, I appreciate the disclaimer. Based on local observation I'm going with I'm good and plead stupidity if questioned... I'm good at playing stupid:ambivalence:

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Thanks Rich. I assumed as such, but good to hear. Our town is loaded with E bikes, and maybe one gas powered one besides mine. I've never seen the cops bother them. It was such a feeling of freedom riding around on it the other night, "boldy" riding thru town on an unregistered gas power...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

The pedal side is standard bicycle fare. A freewheel hub on the back wheel that is engaged when pedaling forward and disengaged while coasting or pedaling backwards. The engine side is connected to the other side of the wheel with its own chain / sprockets. The engine has a clutch to disengage...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Progress with the Abomination.... some tweaks this evening. I probably rode it 4-5 times as far as yesterday which isn't saying much... a lap around the block, perhaps a mile or so, then some puttering around town... this thing is stupid fun. The Abomination by Glen Brenner, on Flickr

what did you wrench on today??

Steve, it's a hot mess. It started as a 26" mountain bike. It now has 20" wheels. The chain seen in the picture is the engine drive and a poorly cobbled idler pulley for chain slack. The other side has typical pedal crank / sprocket setup, though interesting as most bicycles have the chain on...

Oil filter cover differences between GS 1100 and GS 1150

The 1150 cover has a restriction built in to force oil into the oil cooler ports and my understanding is that if using the 1100 cover the oil will simply bypass the oil cooler ports rendering the cooler as useless.

what did you wrench on today??

Saved from a dumpster yesterday, took a couple of very short rides tonight. It's going to be a hoot once it warms up in the Spring. It's an absolute hack job, yet it's growing on me... The dumpster bike by Glen Brenner, on Flickr

Hey Rich, welcome back. I remember you but for some reason don't remember your former 450. That thing looks like a whole lot of fun.

Valve Stem Seals, or maybe throw in the towel

If the fuse blows only after activating a switch I'm thinking the glitch is after either switch. A quick and easy check might be to pull out the taillight bulb and check for continuity to ground. Not sure of your exact setup, but I'm thinking two contacts (running and brake) and the socket is...

    My first GS

Welcome. Good running condition 6 months ago, needs carbs cleaned now is suspect to me. Yes, today's gas sucks, but in unfortunate instances my bike has sat that long plus with no carb attention needed. I see a blued aftermarket exhaust suggesting that the carbs may not have been tuned to work...
