A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    HF blasting cabinet

PERSONALLY I wouldn't use soda on rusty parts, too much material used to remove rust. It's a one time use product. Can you find sandblasting sand locally? I would try that first and if necessary, crank up the pressure as well.

coil question on my 80 gs850 gt

Those plug caps should measure under 10K ohm's. I suspect you'll find it reads much higher than that. If it does then remove the other three plug caps and do the same thing. Replace those that are bad.

1st generation AUTO cancel TSCU "banging the bits"

That is the intent. The enclosure and possibly having to populate the board yourself is an entirely different matter.

1st generation AUTO cancel TSCU "banging the bits"

Which is what I originally had in mind. I would like to take three differing events, the initial event, is from the operation of the turn signal switch. The second event, exceeding a low level frequency threshold, will be used to trigger a third event, one that counts a certain number of...

1st generation AUTO cancel TSCU "banging the bits"

Thanks for the information. I've been doing a little bit of reading the last couple of hours and it looks like the Arduino may be a better choice than the Pi. What I was worried about was trying to multitask several operations at once. Maybe I should just stick with using interrupt handling...

1st generation AUTO cancel TSCU "banging the bits"

The problem isn't which device to use, it is having to learn a programming language. Plus, as has been just mentioned, the raspberry Pi zero is a whole whopping five dollars. Is it overkill compared to a PIC or an AVR? Sure it is, but at least I may have a fighting chance at writing the software...

That was my original plan. Now I'm looking into the Rasberry Pi. I'll have a look at your link tonight.

I haven't forgotten about his project. Learning the code is the hold up. https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspberry-pi-zero/ http://www.amazon.com/Programming-Raspberry-Pi-Second-Edition/dp/1259587401/ref=dp_ob_title_bk Requires learning Python which I think my son can help me with.

    DC ARC welding aluminum

Chuck, there was a guy I used to work with who was good at stick welding aluminum. I had a cracked case cover on my old 500 Kaw that he welded for me. He went out back, flipped the welder on DC+ and laid a bead like no other. I've TIG'd it back in high school. Welded it with oxy-acetelene in the...

Thoughts for a half decent multimeter??

Still can't beat a properly calibrated Simpson 260 analogue meter for use around the house. It may not be as accurate as today's digital models but still extremely useful. Great for a visual capacitance check if you ever need it. You can pick up a good used one for $25 and get a fairly decent...

4 1/2 year quest may be ending tomorrow

I know, you told me that when it started tiger stripping on you. It's all in the past now. Although I did get my share of dirty looks when I was texting you from the wedding. It's done... that's what matters. I second Jeep. That's a very nice colour choice.

4 1/2 year quest may be ending tomorrow

Just think of all the people you've inspired to do their own paint work... Or, at the very minimum try their hand at it and then go to seek professional help. How is the colour match between sessions?
