A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    overnight personality change

Take it out and run it under load for a couple of miles. Pull over and pull the plugs and see what they have to say. If main jets are blocked then you should have lean looking plugs somewhere and if something is going on with the ignition, you'll likely have a rich plug or two.

    I make leather side bags

Best way to get in touch is with a PM! I haven't been on GSR as much regularly but still check in once a week or so. I have a few of these fork bags at the moment:

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Wow Jedz - just saw you picked up the triumph. Cool! Weekend cruise with my buddy on his GS550. I got flagged down to pull over because he thought a bolt had come off my bike. Turned out I ran over a battery:

    Spark plug wire questions

I just bought 8mm DW-800 wires for use with a DS3-1 (ignition) and DS1-1 (Green coils). I believe the difference is that the graphite wires are the "suppression" type and don't use resistor caps. With the Copper wire, you need resistor caps. So far everything seems to be buttoning up.

    New GS750

Okay another one. I'm doing some spring maintenance/upgrades for this bike: - Green Dyna coils to match the ignition - Fresh plug leads - CRM - Welded some exhaust leaks - New carb boots - Spark plugs, oil, etc. And want to get some Hagons to go on the rear. I was on...

    cruzinimage_co intake boots???

Okay another update for anybody else who is looking to use these. I was able to pull them apart like this with the outer two boots. They were splitting a little as I showed in my previous post from a little ways back so I think I caught it early on. This is after ~13,000 miles/one year and...

    Oil Filter stud...arrrgghhh

Got a bit of weld on the end and ended up getting it with vice grips Gently sanded down the area just to get the burrs off and then but a very small coat of RTV just around that stud. So far no leaks.

    Oil Filter stud...arrrgghhh

Thanks all. Sounds like I'll try the welder again. I have the correct studs from Suzuki to put in afterwards.

Go to inexpensive tires for spoke rims

I run Dunlop K70's on mine. They look cool and have performed well for me so far. I'm on my second set.

    Oil Filter stud...arrrgghhh

Tried that but there isn't really enough material to get a decent weld on. What would you do in this situation/before you were in this situation?

    Oil Filter stud...arrrgghhh

Yup, what you are looking at is an extractor broken off inside a drilled out oil filter stud. The first stripped one came out like butter, so we thought: Why not the second? Well, after snapping it pretty much flush with vice grips, we were able to get a bit of weld onto it and then get it loose...

    Shift shaft seal

Thanks guys - if I can see small amounts of weepage at the bottom of the seal from the outside, in your experience do both of those (#34 and #36) need to be replaced or just the outer one? OR, is #36 inside the engine case? Last question was more about removal of the seal but I know that...

    Shift shaft seal

Hi All, I didn't want to start a whole new thread based on a simple question so found something vaguely related (mostly because I also replaced the shift shaft seal). The big seal for the main drive...which is the correct part number for this seal on a 1977GS550...

    New GS750

Quick question - I know this info is out there but "rubber plug" and "half moon" didn't bring anything up. What's the best type of goo to use when replacing the rubber half moon plugs in the cylinder head? Do I just yank the old ones off?
