A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

What diameter hose for brake bleeding on 1979 gd850g

I use clear 1/8" airline hose available at Lowes, Home Depot or a pet supply by the foot. After you've pumped/bled repeatedly, if still soft, pump and put a bungee or zip tie on the lever holding it closed overnight. This is will help get the more air up out of the system. Turn the handlebars...

1st generation AUTO cancel TSCU "banging the bits"

Speaking of the Pi, the next generation is purported to cost just $5. The Zero as they call it, is their smallest and cheapest computer to date - half the size of the model A+ and twice as powerful. http://thenextweb.com/gadgets/2015/11/26/raspberry-pis-latest-computer-costs-just-5/...

    Intake O-Rings Scheduled Maintenance

I'm curious on this too. I replace mine when I first get a bike and do the propane or carb cleaner spray around them after a couple of seasons or when cleaning/tuning a bike that hasn't been ridden for a while but haven't had to replace a set I've already done yet. I'm thinking it's one of...

    Hello all, my name's Wolfie.

Very unique and cool bike there Wolfie. And some interesting plans on the ES, can't wait to see how you make out. You're in the right place for the electrical side of things, and that bike, now being 30, would be considered non-modern in my opinion and there's several very knowledgable people...

Smoke from carbs and oil leak

First of all a little clarification is in order - the head gasket and the valve cover gasket are 2 different things. The half moons are in the valve cover gasket, and you may need some hondabond or permatex grey RTV. Some gaskets come with them attached, some separate, depending on the model...

All Turn signals come on when Actuated

It is probably due to the voltage of your battery being too low to actually flash, try it with the bike running if you haven't already. The turn signal relays on these bikes can go bad over time, especially if they get turned upside down and water gets in them or they are really old on high...

1983 Suzuki GS850 Cafe Racer Project

That stinks! Personally, I don't see the harm as long as you clean up after yourself.

[GS 650 bottom end on gs 550 base] need I absolutely machining the base to fit jugs?

I see to recall reading that people put a 650 head on a 550 bottom end?

    Heated grips or gloves?

Interesting idea - my v45 Magna is liquid cooled and the coolant actually flows through part of the frame that is removed to replace the engine. Kind of a pain, actually. I've toyed with the idea of somehow using heat from the exhaust to somehow heat something too, but haven't gotten beyond...

1983 Suzuki GS850 Cafe Racer Project

I work in my carport unless it's winter, then I work in my shed for a little additional warmth. It's 30 degrees F here right now. Time to fire up the propane heater! One day I'll build a garage, or move to a house that has one. My work allows me to do certain things as well but I can't leave...

    Weasel's 1978 GS750 cafe racer project

Lots of good info in this thread, tagging along for the ride, as I have a 78 GS750 that I'll be playing with someday.

    my gs650g 1982 project

There are indeed folks here that modify their bikes, and I have a couple myself that I'll be making "unique" in the next year or so, but there are a lot if "purists" here, and for good reason in my opinion. The GS is such a great bike and they are very well put together and not as common these...

    Perfect, thanks Dave!

I am asking your opinion - so please share your thoughts --

+1 on leaving as is, but also agree that if you do go blue, less is more, like pos's first mockup. Even though you can paint and stripe for cheap, vinyl should still be cheaper although not as durable if the paint work is prepped properly.

    Heated grips or gloves?

Dave, I'll be ordering my Polly heaters soon, where do you recommend drilling the holes? I'm mounting these inside my 850G's stock bars. Although it will be a little more work to "fish" the wires through, I'm thinking of drilling near the center/bottom so the wires can be hidden by the plastic...

    dare to bring this back

The V65 was a mean machine in the day, my buddy had an 83 in high school and it was wicked fast. I've had a 83 V45 Magna for about a decade now, loved the bike but finally had to replace the engine 2 years ago when it started spitting coolant out of the pipes and it still sits in pieces because...

I have BS32SS carbs, which main jets fit?

Has anyone tried the "OEM equivalent" jets from jetsrus.com? Nearly half the price, although we're only talking $3 here, I'm curious if anyone tuning in has dared try. I'll be ordering some jets by springtime for a project on the cheap.

    Heated grips or gloves?

I'm in the same boat right now, looking at grips and gloves. I'm also considering some heated socks or insoles to lengthen my season a little more. Jedz123, what did you pay for your gloves if you don't mind me asking? Prices on Amazon go all the way to $300, which seems a lot to me. I would...
