If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Info and Pics! Info and Pics! So, here's the story on the Super T?ner?. Dan at GSM Motorent hooked up with the folks at Twisted Throttle a couple years ago to trick out Dan's Super T?ner? so it could be used for the mutual benefit of both businesses. Twisted Throttle would take photos and...

It followed US home dear......after a great trip!

After nine years and 50,000 miles I decided to sell our '04 FJR 1300 and find a replacement two-up sport tourer. We have ridden with several guys and gals on big adventure bikes, mostly BMW GS models, and have been impressed with how well these bikes handle twisty roads. They are also very...

    1150 3.5" wheel in an 1100 swingarm

Maybe I am not making my point clearly enough or have missed something. See below drawing: Unless I have missed something, the ONLY factor that determines the value for the countershaft sprocket offset is the difference between the X Offset values for the old and new wheels measured at the...

    1150 3.5" wheel in an 1100 swingarm

The 'data' and formula are based on the assumption that any given wheel of a specific width has the exact same sprocket offset. While this may or may not be true, I'll stick with consistent and repeatable measurements. John's numbers seem to indicate that all wheels of a given width do not have...

    1150 3.5" wheel in an 1100 swingarm

I believe the answer is that the offset is not determined by wheel width. The offset difference is determined by the position of the outer bearing face on the drive side and the width of the sprocket carrier, which may or may not be directly related to the rim width. On the 1150 wheel I have...

    1150 3.5" wheel in an 1100 swingarm

Yes, we made multiple measurements in different spots on the wheel. We also minimized the effect of the rubber cushions by tightening the sprocket carrier down using a threaded rod and cones from my No-Mar balancer. The results were consistent and repeatable. Just to verify, I measured the...

    1150 3.5" wheel in an 1100 swingarm

Jim, Agreed and understood. It is intuitive that a wider wheel will require more sprocket offset to allow chain clearance. However, I don't think it can be said that for a given width of rear wheel a specific amount of offset is required. While it is likely that two rear wheels of the same...

    1150 3.5" wheel in an 1100 swingarm

Other concerns.... Other concerns.... Okay, I have read through this thread and conversed with Dan, Greg, And Dallas regarding their results prior to attempting to mount the Enkei 3.5 GS1150 rear wheel I have. I did a bunch of measurements today with Baatfam graciously assisting and...

    Brake Caliper Seal question

Here's another thread about his form a TL Forum. It shows the below pic very clearly showing the angle. I would assume the angle would match the angle of the groove in the caliper?? Thanks, Joe

    Brake Caliper Seal question

Ed, Yes, I'm sure. I also checked the manual when I rebuilt them and found no mention of it either. I've been doing some searching and have found a couple other mentions of an angled seal. Here's one from an EX500 forum. It doesn't have a definite answer but it seems the angle is there to help...

    Brake Caliper Seal question

Chuck, That's the issue. I replaced them a few years ago and I think I installed them backwards........:o I believe the way it works is that the rotors push the pads and pistons away from the rotors when the brake pressure is released. If the piston seals are oriented incorrectly they will...

    Brake Caliper Seal question

I know this has been covered here before but I couldn't find the information. I'm going to rebuild my front calipers on the GS1100 and have a question regarding the seal orientation. The piston seal is not flat on the inner edge, it is angled. I can't remember what the orientation should be. I...

    old tires/new sport demons

Here's an explanation of date codes: Born on date, and wear's the tread? Other useful information on the tire's sidewall includes its manufacturing date. Look on the side for a raised block with four digits; it's usually next to the U.S. DOT tire identification number. The first two indicate...

    Spoke Lacing Pattern

Yes, the hub ends of the spokes have two different bend angles, one angle for the inner and one for the outer. One bend will work either way but the other bend will only work one way. Here are pics of front and rear wheels: Thanks, Joe

    Tires - Sport Touring Radials

I'm currently running the Pirelli Angel GT's on both the Shiver and FJR. They are wearing well on both bikes and they handle nicely. My favorite tires for the FJR as far as handling are Dunlop RoadSmart 2's but the front wears badly on the FJR. It is a reasonably heavy bike and I usually ride it...

    Assen Moto GP

I am not a fan of Jorge Lorenzo but my opinion of him has increased tremendously after this weekend. To even think of racing 36 hours after surgery is almost unthinkable. He showed unbelievable strength by racing and to finish in fifth place was incredible. Of course it was great to see Rossi...
