A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

HF motorcycle lift table video review.

Love mine. I was lucky in that I got the better, padded front wheel clamp, and the air/hydraulic feature.

clean up wiring in headlight bucket

I ditched the stock connectors and went with the flat four trailer wiring connectors to save room.

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

I wish it had one, but all it has is a neutral switch.

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

This bike does not have a gear indicator. I am waiting for the nut to arrive. Ordered it over a week ago from Parts Outlaw.

    Ooops

I'm glad I saw this thread. I didn't see any shims on the idler gear when I pulled the stator out few days ago. Now I am gonna have to yank the cover again.

    Manually Turn Starter Gears

The best way to inspect the starter gears and clutch is to pull off the stator cover on the kick stand side of the engine. There is oil in there so you will need to either lean the bike the other way and secure it or drain some oil. You will also have to remove the sprocket cover.

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

When I saw it, my jaw dropped. Probably been that way for years. That explains why the masterlink would lightly touch the chain guard when I reverse spun the wheel while lubing the chain. There is no damage to the splines or anything else. Someone up there likes me.
  10. 1980GS1000E

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

Close. I had to remove the case savers to get the cover off. It is the missing countershaft sprocket nut. I don't even know how long it's been like this.

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

Nope. This is what I saw when I removed the covers. Keep guessing. It's obvious.
  12. 1980GS1000E

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

So removed the stator after testing it and discovered that it is shorted to ground on one lead. The rotor looks fine, but I found another problem. Anyone care to guess what it is?
  13. 1980GS1000E

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

I'll just hook it up to the red wire in the harness. I haven't changed anything except removing the headlight loop and the 775 r/r. we shall see if the new stator fixes the no-charge issue.
  14. 1980GS1000E

    SH-775 on an FZ1?

Please can you explain a bit? If the FZ's total current demands are greater 25 amps (it does have 2 cooling fans) does that mean it won't work?
  15. 1980GS1000E

    SH-775 on an FZ1?

Has anyone installed an SH-775 in place of the stock shunt-type r/r on the second generation FZ1? It looks like it would be a drop-in. Why would this not work?
  16. 1980GS1000E

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

I am electrically challenged, I guess. I really can't get everything in that diagram. I am not sure what the arrows indicate. It just looks as if there is an additional fuse added from the battery to the r/r. I want to connect it the best and most reliable way.

    No, because it's an LTD
  18. 1980GS1000E

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

I am considering wiring straight to the battery with a fuse. Seems simpler to me.
  19. 1980GS1000E

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

The problem is no charging and a low battery from running it that way. I hook up to a tender when it's parked. I don't know whether the stator is the whole problem or just part of it. Once I replace it I can rule it out.
  20. 1980GS1000E

    SH-775 wiring and battery drain

The quick test with everything connected net no voltage increase. I was attempting to determine whether the regulator was bad. The battery was at 11 volts. I bought a new yuasa and am waiting for the stator cover gasket.
