DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What's the hose for coming from the fuel float?

I think it was an air bubble in the fuel line. Happens sometimes with gravity fed fuel lines. Trimming the lines shorter will help. No uphill loops.

    What's up with tires?

So spend your dinero, buy some BT46 tires. Just don't insult my Shinko's.

Work completed, engine running well. Did 30 miles today. Knowledgeable GSers will see that I installed an L engine.

what did you wrench on today??

Removing the cams gave me 4.5" wiggle room. I used the swing it out method.

what did you wrench on today??

I might have enough clearance if I just remove the valve cover and cams, maybe the sump pan also.

what did you wrench on today??

The Suzuki manual does clearly say: "Gradually lift up the engine" but I'm just not strong enough. The Clymer manual on page 72 suggests: "If you're performing repair work without assistance, it may be easier to first remove cylinder head and cylinder block."

what did you wrench on today??

Bummer, I wanted to remove and replace the 1100G engine without taking off the head, but it's too tall. Will have to remove both heads and use a 2nd rate Cometic gasket. No Suzuki head gaskets available. Last time I found a NOS Suzuki gasket on ebay. These bikes are getting old. I may have to...

DIY Copper Head Gaskets, time has come…

Looks like head gaskets for the GS1100 8 valve are no longer available. I'm looking at DIY copper head gasket videos, might have to DIY one myself if I need to. Anybody doing this already? Actually I see Rapid Ray talking about them in posts from 15 years ago. Chime in if you've got experience...

what did you wrench on today??

Yes, 200lb, $325 for shipping from Appleton WI to New Buffalo MI, about 300 miles. I considered driving, but it's a miserable drive through Gary, Chicago and Milwaukee, turnaround and repeat.

what did you wrench on today??

Oops, broke 3rd gear at 53,510 miles. My favorite bike, even so I considered junking it for about 5 seconds. Just bought an engine with 19,265 miles and good compression. Hope this engine lasts 19 years like the original did, I'll be 91 years old by then.

    Isle of Man TT 2026

About the sidecars, I know their suspension travel is down to less than an inch. Maybe if that was increased they would handle better on the uneven public roads. It would take a lot of redesign work.

    Isle of Man TT 2026

So saddening, one rider crashed & died, Daniel Ingham. Sidecar races cancelled after 2 crashes.

    Isle of Man TT 2026

I am very impressed with the physical strength of Dean Harrison and Michael Dunlop. I can only endure four 20 minute track sessions before my legs become jelly.
