A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Computer Help

I have to admit that reading about someone else going through this process is a lot more enjoyable than doing it myself. I am SO glad we have an IT group in our department, because most of our upgrades would never get done without them.

    Stator, The GSR travelling mascot.

Was feeling nostalgic this morning and got to thinking, whatever happened to Stator (as I was contemplating charging on my, now departed, 550es) Do you still have him Chuck Hahn?

83 GS650GL - Main fuse doing funny things!!

Some guys have replaced their fuse boxes with ones from Eastern Beaver, and there was a solid state power box put together by member posplayer, but I cannot remember if there was one for the 650. I have one for the 550ES, but lost my garage before I got it installed. It is a solid piece of kit...

    D-Mac project GS550 - more carb issues

D-Mac is no longer active on the forum, so unless someone knows them personally, I'm afraid we're not going to hear back

what did this break off from?

If you had the cover off and were working on the tensioner/guides, I would say that is a likely possibilty. By the size of it, could it be a guide cushion, Special here: https://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gs650g-1981-x-usa-e03_model16040/partslist/BLCK0003.html#.YmL12DfMLm2

Winter Rebuild Almost Done - 1982 GS650G - Seat questions?

I agree with nvr2old. If the seat pan is in good shape, you're probably better off getting it reupholstered locally. The service costs dear in Vancouver, BC, but I'm sure you can find someone near to you who could do it for about half of what we would pay up here.

Winter Rebuild Almost Done - 1982 GS650G - Seat questions?

The 650 is a strange beast. There is not that much that transfers directly over from other models, and I think you'll find the same true for the seat. If you are looking for covers only, you can try Pit Replica and Saddleman. Both produce covers that fit and look good. I have one of each. The PR...

Riding the River - Canada to Florida

I love this forum for the random stories that I never would have seen had it not been for the engagement of members. DPep, I know you have a penchant for adventures, but to take on an Ironbutt, on a new-to-you ride, more or less sight-unseen. THAT is a whole 'nother level, sir.

    Grip glues

I have also used hairspray in the past, but I found the last time I tried, the hairspray did NOT work. I do not recall the brand, but it was a green can with blue lettering.

    Grip glues

In a pinch, if nothing else works, you could try golf grip tape and solvent.

Anyone else excited about the start of MotoGP season?

The way he impacted on his ankle, he's lucky to have only been out for a single race

Anyone else excited about the start of MotoGP season?

You know, when I was younger I was mad about all things racing. I truly wanted to get into it myself, having a rally-racer for a father. Life and money obstacles, plus a dose of parental common-sense intervened and I never did race. You'd think that I'd be more into now, but I'm just not. I do...

I have twins in the garage

At least it was only an egg, and presumably not hard-boiled at that! Imagine if it had been those malicious kids from awhile back, dropping good-sized rocks off of over-passes. Nice haul on the twins. Long-term plans for them? Burner bikes, lol!?

    Pic of the week game

It's a close call between Sandy and Rich, but the mountains move me, every time! +1 for Sandy this week.

    Insurance question

In BC, we can insure for shorter periods, but at adjusted higher annual rates. On my 550, insurance just went down about 20% to something like $752...that's liability only, and with a max discount for being an old fart with 35+ years experience. note: in BC, we are obligated to carry...

Sold my 1982 GS650g and missing it!

Not that they were particularly rare, but many have been allowed to fall into disrepair and/or get chopped up. We had a fair few of them here in Vancouver for awhile, but haven't seen one for sale locally in some time. I do recall someone posting about a plum one they found in the midwest a few...
