A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Back in the GS fold (a familiar '81 850G)

Enjoy the 850 ! Happy it found a perfect home and I'm looking forward to seeing her back on the road. I'm certain you'll find it to be one of the most comfortable bikes you ever ridden and she handles very well.

    2025 Brown County GS Rally - June 19 - 22

Pencil me in ! Haven't missed a BC yet ! Ride what ya got ! I think I've ridden eight different bikes to BC. In order (somewhat) 1000L, 1100G, Concours, 1000E, SV1000, KLR, 850G and most recently the FJ-09.

    Thoughts on 79 XS1100

My first new bike was a 79 1100 Special , first year for the model ( the 1100 and smaller Specials were out in 78). A lot of details changes for the 80 model , 85mph speedo and big, clunky tail light replaced the smaller one located lower on the fender. As 20 yr old I replaced the rear tire...

    Ozarks!

Ha, all of us were well over 2500 miles for this trip, and have virtually ZERO pics ! :) What few pics were taken are at meals or gas stops. Way, way too many awesome roads to get carried away stopping for pictures and none our photo-journalists could make the trip. Next time.....

    Ozarks!

Awesome, late season adventure ! Perfect timing, kids were back in school and tourists were few and far between. Endless sweepers, one after another. :) Some technical stuff, but mostly perfect sweeping curves. Pavement was expectional IMO, maybe 2 corners with a little gravel all week...

    Aftermarket signals not blinking

Yes, simple old-school 2 blade flasher unit. Why this works I don't recall, but it did for a couple of my bikes with small aftermarket signals. (should be cheaper than the Amazon price....) -greg

    Aftermarket signals not blinking

If you are running the stock flasher unit, just replace it with a old-school round automotive mechanicl flasher. Just a couple bucks anywhere....

Cartridge Emulators + Front end rebuild - What to replace?

Can't go wrong with Sonic straight rate springs, much better than Progressives.... my opinion anyway. Our connie sported the Sonic 1.1 springs and I believe Brian is running Sonics in his GS850, very happy with the results. Keep in mind suspension is right up there with oil and tire...

    Titanium Aglets! At last!

Read the product reviews; "Saving a fortune in frayed laces and shoes stay tied longer too! Best $900.00 I've ever spent!" "These titanium aglets have saved my life more than once. The overall reduction in weight, while not noticeable initially, are evident after hours of riding, when you're...

GS 1000 Stock colour VS custom colour

If you could , pics would be great. I tend to agree, the 750 sidecovers look better than 1000 covers. If it can be done without to many mods to the frame, I may consider it myself. Bigger fish to fry at the moment... -greg

GS 1000 Stock colour VS custom colour

At the risk of hi-jacking your thread...... The 750 sidecovers fit the 1000 ? Any modifications required ? BTW..With your mods the bike looks good in purple :) , although I'm usually partial to black.
