A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Weld the starter clutch to the magnet asembly, 3 welds each about an inch long over each bolt. stock bolts are fine if you do this. tig weld only. use lapping compound to mate the faces on the taper, heat female taper whack on with an impact, red locktite on nut.
starts my 13.5 to 1 1428 fine for years

Hey guys....

My home computer got so filled with spyware/adware/viruses etc that it finally wont "mount the boot volume"...or something. Its fragged.

Anyway...my motor is still sitting in my garage looking like a boat anchor.

Any recommendations on where to send the crank?

They did the crank on my RD...looks like they'll get the GS as well. What am I looking at price-wise start to finish? 600.00 or so?

Falicon balanced, welded and replaced the one end on my GS1000 crank Mark for just under 800.00

I'm back from my trip...made a little coin....and now it's 1100 time!

I'm going to tear into it tomorrow and see if anything else is buggered. I hope all goes well. I'll try and get some more photos up as soon as possible. I'ts gonna be warm soon, so I gotta get moving.

I will have $1000 (initially) to budget out as wisely as possible. Any money suggestions from past rebuilds (where to spend/where to scrimp) would be appreciated.

I'm looking for 120 HP at the crank....just a good reliable street motor for what will hopefully be the meanest old 7/11 in Fayetteville NC.

I got the motor stripped down, should crack the cases tomorrow night.

There was some rust in the #1 cylinder (the only one), leading me to believe that someone tried to start it after water got into it, and hydrolocked the motor...busting the starter clutch in the process.

The pistons have ART and L2 on the underside of the piston...and a small 21 stamped into the wrist-pin boss. The tops only have an arrow.
Are these stock pistons?

The crank feels nice and smooth, and the rods have very little side play (don't have a dial indicator)

Can the crank be straightened without taking it apart?
