A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1150 coughing and spuddering

While I wait for the new coils, I rigged up the old stock 1150's. Problem is they don't fit on the 83 frame.

I have one bolt holding them on.

I fired it up, it started willingly, so I went for a test ride. About 3-4 miles in I got on it about 95mph in fifth. It started to cut out again, so I backed down to 60, and it still was sputtering, probably running on 1 or 2 cylinders.

I got off the freeway and pulled over. Having taken off the gas and seat several times this week, I didn't feel like taking it off, so I just tryed to fire it up and ride home.

Fired up on all four, and took it easy home.

I haven't changed the plug wires in awhile and I ride in the rain alot, however I have trimmed then ends on occasion and haven't noticed any corrosion.

I guess these coils could be bad too, but seems odd they wouldn't work either.

I did have one bike I couldnt get to run right. It would run out of power at about 60 mph like it was pushing a brick wall. The coils tested good and I had switched out everything on the bike and rebuilt the carbs, done all the homework, so to speak. I tried a spare set of coils that also tested good.
It made no difference. A third set of coils also made no difference. At the point I was at, my mind kept saying coils, so I ignored the multi meter and ordered a new set of coils. Guess what? The bike ran fine. It WAS the coils.
You never know until you try. :-)

DynaTek confirmed today one of my coils was indeed bad. So they offered to sell me one for $35. I decided to get 2 for $70. They'll return the good one as well. Very cool.
