A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Whats a good set of tires for a normal street ridden 85 GS1150, what ever you guys have had good luck with ? Which ones to stay away from ? Also a good brand of chain to use

Ive been using Bridgestone Battlax tires on my 1150 for years. As a generally mild rider, they have served me well. Yesterday, I got a screw stuck in my tire, and will need new, so ill be watching this thread.
How about a pic of the 1150?

The current favorites are Avon Roadriders, Pirelli Sport Demons and Bridgestone BT-45's. I have the BT-45's on my 1100E and they worked ok but the rear flat spotted very quickly, in ~5000km. I typically get closer to 10,000km from a rear so that was fast wear by my standards. The Sport Demon's also have fast wear from the reports I have seen. I am going to be putting a set of Avon's on next spring. I have seen lots of very good reports on them for both grip and longevity.

Plus 1 on the RK 530..as for tires I did have Battalax at at one time but did not like the way they performed in the wet. I have had Avon roadriders on both my gs bikes and got great wear (14000kms!!) and pretty good grip in all condittion. This last set of tires I went to the Perelli sport demons on both bikes. The grip on the tires is the best in my opinion but wear is not as good as Avon but since buying the beemer my plan is to not put on as many miles on the gs bikes so I look for grip over wear. As a matter of fact I only got 7000kms out of the rea tire on my 1100. I do ride pretty hard though imo.

I have Avons on my Harley but some bikes just like certain tires. Thanks

Dorkburger, the bike is exactly like the one in your avatar less the fairing. Im old and not smart enough to use the picture hosting crap
