A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thanks for the link POS!
So, it looks like I could use the .424/.424 cams in the 1100 for the GS1000S with the under bucket shims and springs as they are basically the same profiles as the old Andrews cams.
More questions, can I mill the head .020 and bump the compression up closer to 10.50:1? and what is the largest size valves that can be put into another large port head?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Hey Eric,
No ideas on those 8V tech questions. I'm strictly 16V and learning as I go. There are plenty of 8V guys here is you post for some recos on 8V perhaps in another thread to get their attention.

Then, perhaps, I will be asking you some questions on how to make some serious power out of my '83 GSX 750. ;) Such as which cylinders (over-bore) will fit in the 750 engine. Perhaps build a short stroke big bore 900? Or something close.
When I made the 750 into an 850, I used the factory cylinders so as to not make the walls too thin by just boring the 750 cylinders. At the time, there was a 870 kit for it.

Thanks again,

Eric

Start with an 1100, you will get there quicker.

Eric, an 1100 GS motor will be EXTREMELY difficult to get into that frame but a GSXR motor goes in fairly painlessly as they are, physically, very close in size. Ray.

I am sorry if I was not clear, I meant to say that I was going to bore the original 1000 motor to 1100 with the Weisco 73.5 kit and mill the head to gain a bit more compression in the GS1000S. Does that sound better?
I will still need to find a newer large port 1000 head and some 36 or 38 CV carbs for it though. ;)
Also, would anyone have a source for the templates to paint it back to original paint style? I would like to do it a little different like a blue and gold or black and gold or even black and blue paint scheme.

Eric

I put a set of rs34's on my 83 gs750 and it pulls way harder and my bike is alot faster.I can open my bike up at around 7000 and the front end comes up.I wasn`t able to do that before.

My friend has a gpz750 and i would beat him him when racing but now i kill his bike.It is like night and day with the carbs.I have no problems with them.I had to mess around with the jets but after that wow.My bike walks all over my friends 84 900 ninga.I think it is a 84.
