A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I think I'm done with the jetting
Mikuni BS36SS carbs
47.5 pilot jet
Idle mixture screws out 3-3.5 turns
150 main jet 1&4
152.5 main jet 2&3
Dynojet Jet needle third notch from bottom
Pulls great bottom-top
Idles great with the 47.5 pilot jets
I tried this setup with the Jet Needle 3.5 notches from bottom but ran too hot for my liking. The three up gave me better color on the plugs and it ran cooler.
The plugs look perfect

This is going to be something to see.... wonder if the 750 will be able to keep up with you or not Zoom....Zoom

One more jetting change
Rich on the needle a bit so lowered it a half notch to 3.5 from bottom. Better power when hot and will improve my terrible fuel milege.

Put 20/50 oil in and saved the Rotella 5/40 for the winter.

The MPG's went up since you hot-rodded the engine again?? :D

I might carry a fuel bottle this year... worked out a Quart bottle is about 10-15 miles on the Skunk depending on how it's ridden.

Dan :)

My 1229 is HORRIBLE on gas with 36 RS carbs I do ride it kinda hard but a tank is gone after going to get a haircut and a fast stop the auto parts store, thinking of going over to a set of gs1150 CV carbs i have on the shelf.....

I check my mileage now and then, last time I got 37.3 mpg (6.3L/100km) riding heavy with a passenger.
When I first got this bike, with the stock 750, it hit reserve at 220km now its more like ~150km

That's what I run with a worked head.

Gotta pay to play!

Good attitude Bill.

When I used to hear other performance rotary enthusiasts grizzling about their fuel consumptions, I'd quip "you cant get V8 performance without the equivalent fuel consumption".

With a 30% increase in main jet size and my unwillingness to take it easy
I'm not delusional.

Had a buddy that had a centrifugally supercharged 351 built for his 1990 mustang, replacing the stock 302. He was astounded when his MPG dropped significantly, and subsequently, would never romp on it for fear of lost mileage. What the hell else are you supposed to do with 400+ ft-lbs of torque at the wheels? Go to the grocery store?

Just a question here, Bill said he bent an oil ring and had to go buy a new set. How could you tell if you bent one if the cylinders are installed on all 4? Hard to turn over?
I am installing my 1170 kit now and was curious:-k
