A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

17 years with a wild Fox Squirrel friend.

I used to run into this one crazy homeless guy in town and he was telling me about living by the river and in a cave and his pet racoon named "Rocky" (of course) . I thought it was a made up story (schizo, sad/bad case) He was saying rocky was OK except he'd always be up all night and sleep all day and it takes getting used to...

If you come across a momma racoon with little ones following, stay clear. They are quite protective and are a whole lot more of a handful than you ever want to deal with. heh eh

17 years! who knew! great story! but why I'm posting...I'm suprised your grey squirrels are so shy?. They are not so hereabouts, if they are the same Eastern Grey squirrel that are common invasives here on west coast...(The species comes in two colours, grey and black.Females tend to be black,IME...) here's MsNipples who, among others, came in every day for brunch. The indegenous red squirrels are pretty accomodating to "peanut-dispensing apes" too...I had one living in a bag of insulation in the shop for quite awhile.

I don't remember seeing a red squirrel here. Lots of grays though. Fox squirrels, even in their home habitats are scarce compared to the grays. The ratio is usually about 1 in 100. I've given up with they grays. I can put peanuts down and leave and they will come get them, but that's is all the farther I've come with them in ten years. LOL

The ratio is usually about 1 in 100.

We have a couple of these. I call em white rats.

I built a corn feeder for them and my wife snapped a photo and sent it to her German co-workers.....in Germany co-workers !! Oops ! :o

I've seen an occasional black squirrel, but never a white one.

never a white one.
me neither! ...Hard to see if these are true "Albinos" (which have red eyes I think) certainly a pretty good adaptation for snow.

I like that pinwheel feeder! and of course, they do too! I figured out I might as well feed them because NO bird feeder defeats them....though the entertainment value for the $ spent on "squirrel proof " feeders certainly gives dividends in entertainment...

When I was in Port Elgin , Ontario, Canada this last summer, all the squirrels I saw were black. Never seen a white one or a Fox squirrel before. We had flying squirrels in our back yard in Mobile, Alabama. They were fun to watch.
