A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just realized the $3325 bid was someone who has zero feedback. Not good. Worst thing is it probably discourages others from bidding because it looks like I am schill bidding. I guess I should have put in auction that anyone with less than 5 feedbacks can't bid. I wish ebay had a way to keep a person with less than a certain # of feedbacks to bid. Doubt it will go any higher and I will be stuck with last bid which was $3275. Or maybe the guy is just someone who has never bid before. We'll see.

Thanks Steve; that was quite a shocker. Seems I need to be on the lookout for every '71 XS1B I can find!

Awesome Russ. NOW i wish the good folks here would talk up these old bikes a bit better...they deserve it. At least better respect than is often shown for them around here.

I could not agree more chuck, we as a group de-value our own machines by assuming that we should be able to get a solid GS cheap.

Joe...theres a vast difference between getting a reasonable deal for a reasonable bike..to which I dont mind being fair when looking at a bike.

That being said, and I know everyone these days are cash strapped, the membership here has gotten into a mindset of "they want the bike at fire sale prices" and then when the try to sell it ( or extra parts ) they want premium pricing to apply.

We, as a collective, need to decide..do we want to be ambulance chaser cheap and bad mouth the very bikes WE OWN AND RIDE, or talk them up to the rest of the world so that premium price is a reality.

I totally agree

Absolutely. What you're seeing happen I think is that as the years go by the Suzuki's are starting to appreciate at a little steeper clip than the others. I think this is because as a manufacturer the Suzuki's were traditionally the best value, because many times they were last to the party, which meant that they weren't quite as collectable. On the other hand, when they did finally get to the party the machines were the most reliable best handling bikes out there, so as time goes by and a younger generation gets into these bikes, they are gaining in popularity. Many on this site remember the old days when one could be had for a song (and still can of course, just harder to find) and fret because that is no longer the case. I wish we as a collective would do more to promote them.
