1976 Kawasaki 900 Ltd. Oil sending unit

I have a friend who has the above mentioned bike and the oil light keeps coming on, but there seems to still be oil pressure.
The light comes on and then goes out sometime later. I figured it might be the oil sending unit.
We have a Clymer manual for that model, but (unless we missed it) there is no mention of the oil sending unit. I used to know exactly where it was, but forgot!

If no one here knows this answer, could you direct us to a good Kawasaki forum that you trust?

It's right on top of the top engine case, in the middle, underneath the carbs, horizontally mounted fore-and-aft, with a little plastic rectangular cap over the wiring connector, oops, not quite accurate for that one, from Partzilla, on the crankcases page, anyway, it's #22, part number 27010-1013, $16.41

It seems that when we go out for a ride it's ok until we drive about 30 minutes, then turn it off.
When the bike is restarted (engine warm) the light comes on and stays on until we get home.
When restarted on another day (engine cold) the light does not come on until the same thing is repeated (30 minute ride)..
Kinda confusing to me... any suggestions?

Is the oil the wrong weight or contaminated with fuel?
I guess the next thing to do after checking the oil is to connect up a mechanical pressure gauge and see what the pressure is when the engine warms up.
