    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1977 GS750 LH Clutch Perch

I have a 77' GS750e that has a cheap aftermarket clutch cable/handle that broke a month after buying the bike. The aftermarket cable/handle is from a store called Biltema here in Sweden, and I'm just not happy with it and would rather have an OEM one. Luckly, or at least I thought the original clutch perch was still on the bike, so I found an old guy in Sweden, got an OEM handle and cable, but it did not fit the perch. So, I contacted a friend from the U.S. who works for cheap cycle parts to get another GS750 handle, still doesn't work. The two handles look identical where it meets the perch, how it's molded, but they don't come down enough to fit into the hole of the perch for the bolt to go through.

My only guess is someone put some random clutch perch on the bike, and I have no idea what it could be, the only number stamped on the perch is a #2. I thought I could just buy a perch but when you pull up the parts available on cheapcycle parts, or any other parts page there is no listing for a perch. I'm getting kind of desperate and I'm thinking of drilling into the perch to make it work but there's actually a slotted hole in the bottom and I don't even know if that will work. I can post pictures later of the perch for more of a reference.
 
Suzuki part #57500-45010 , "LEVER ASSY, CLUTCH". From my usual parts supplier, it's only $32.54 in USD, which is quite reasonable. Not sure what that will cost you in Sweden, though.

This includes the perch, the clutch lever, the adjuster, and the pivot bolt and nut.

While you're at it, order up a new Suzuki OEM clutch cable as well -- the Suzuki parts are MUCH higher quality than the aftermarket crap, and they're usually a little cheaper or about the same price. I replaced all this on my GS850 two years ago and the difference is amazing.

Remove the clutch release mechanism, clean out the fossilized old grease and re-grease it. You will be amazed...
 
Thanks guys, guess I'll just have to spend more money and get the whole assembly. I just can't understand why someone would put some random perch on the bike, very strange.

Luckily I got an OEM clutch cable here in Sweden from this old guy, maybe I should call him up again and see if he has #57500-45010 whole shibang pack. Interesting side note, when I got the handle bars and cable I didn't actually pay the guy until I picked it up at the post office which was just a random grocery store near by, he told me it's how they use to do mail here for parts in the past, he still does.
