1979 GS550E Rear Wheel Axle Spacers - Question

This question is for my new-to-me 550E. Another basket case that I have to order parts and piece together. I had to get a 1979 swing arm and I'm assuming there are no dimensional changes in regards to that until much later. I got a rear wheel with a drum brake and a rear axle and went to fit it all together and observed that the spacer on the right side of the wheel isn't long enough.

Easy fix, right? Just guy the right spacers. Well, all the ones for a 1979 appear to specify the same "short" spacer. There are longer spacers on other year 550 axles, but they almost seem too long at 52mm (from the rulers in the advertisements), whereas my "gap" is about 44mm. What am I missing here? Do I have the incorrect wheel? Did swing arm opening dimensions change? The left spacer is a mushroom type spacer and in leaving a gap by the right spacer as in the picture, the wheel appears pretty well centered. If that's the case, do I have to get a spacer specially fabricated?

You need to download a genuine manual and/or google search as that spacer is the one that sits in the sprocket carrier. easy to tell as it has the greasy seal marks on it. Use MR Cycles for parts listing and google the number and try to find out its correct length for ure model.

As Sharpy says, that spacer goes between the sprocket carrier and the swing arm, You need part #11 for the right side.

Also, be sure part #10 is between the hub bearing and sprocket carrier
