A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Listen carefully, I am going to say it again.
It.....is.....fine......you.....are.....where.....you.....are, don't.....rush.

Repeat after me;
If.....I.....rush.....I.....am.....going.....to.....F*ck.....it.....up.

Another week in your life is going to make no difference on a 10 year project, Pete.
I will bet you a dozen slabs you will never see Larry chasing the clock on any of his jobs, when its done, its done.

Now take a deep breath, calm down to a panic and dazzle us with what you can do, after all, it may be cheaper to ship Jennifer's clothes to you than Dale to get done.
Talking of which, dale is spot on with the excelent advise, tweak the gun for a bit more paint delivery, looks like it is going on pretty dry there, pattern looks good, take that from where it comes.

Hahahaha cheers Stan, I'm doing everything I can to remain patient... which is very difficult for me to do... but you're right I don't want to screw it up!

I'm going to sit in there this morning and do some more pattern tests as I *think* I have an idea where I went wrong...

Patience is the hardest part of paint work...

Mate I'm learning that very quickly...

Pete, You said you're uploading pics. I see no pics.

pics.
NOW.
please.

:)

Hahaha there's heaps of 'em! In my paint thread...

However here are some of them just for you ;)

Why there's no primer yet:

Sanded tank:

Good stuff:

After washing off the good stuff above:

Dried off after the wash down:

Stands setup for tank and tail piece:

Waiting for primer:

And my latest expensive acquisition that I hope will encourage me to keep my guns cleaner:

Just updated my paint thread... no idea if it's looking like it should during drying or not but here's where it is currently:

At least the colour's good...

The plan this morning is to quickly patch up this:

And then clear coat, all pending the weather...

looks nice so far, i really like you red color vs the stripes.
take your time, it ll look great down the road :)

Thanks mate! Very happy with it at this point... fingers crossed the clear will be done today which will let me sand and polish on Monday...

that tank looks fantastic with the stripes! love it!

Thanks Dave! I must say I'm pretty stoked with them myself... but there are more pic's to come shortly... ;)

pete, it just keeps gettin? better...cant wait too see those on the bike!

Thanks mate, probably be at least another week before I'd be game to do anything more than give it a cut and polish... but yeah... I can't wait either!

Reading both threads and I am very impressed. Can't wait to see some riding pictures

Cheers Paul! Probably a couple of months and riding pic's should be doable... getting very close now...

Repair done of that spot that tore:

Four clear coats later, and sorry about the hazy pic's, I think I may have clear coated the camera!

Now it's time *not* to touch it and just let it sit and cure until Monday when it can be cut and polished...

I am no pro at all,
but do not hesitate to go thick with the clear anyway!
will proove easier if you have lot of wet-sanding/cutting to do at the end.

but you know that already :D

and it will turn out pretty, not just ok...t-t-t-t :hand:

I ended up going with the recommended winding the material back a little (not alot though) so we'll see how it goes...

So far though it looks promising!

If I could get it out in the sun I'd have a better idea, but so far it's either been wet paint while the sun's out or threatening to run if the paint's dry...

Currently uploading/sorting pic's for an update...

And thanks for the well wishes too :)

Have fun wet sanding... i bloody hate it!

Oh don't worry, me too!
