A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Got my work cut out for me on this one. Paid $700. Not a killer deal obviously, but not bad for the area. Best part was bike was 10 mins away. Should be able to sell off the header and make $100 too.

Don't think this bike will ever be worth much so leaning toward a semi-original restoration. Powder coat the rusted chrome parts.

It's mostly unmolested, excepting some wacky box in the tale section (an alarm I think).

At any rate, for your viewing pleasure...

I think it was worth it for sure , do plan on keeping and riding it when done

Looks good, Ed. I haven't ridden one, how do they compare with the '81 Gs 750?

Hey Tom,
The KZ is 50 lbs lighter, but a few less hp because it's a 2V engine.

Ed

It appears to have the traditional KZ head gasket leak (my GPz does it) on the LH side

Looks like it was 10 minutes closer to the beach

Looks to be a nice starting point, Ed. Cool! It doesn't look molested at all, just neglected. With only 10K on it, it should run pretty good after a fresh service and carb rebuild, don't 'cha think? ;) A hopeful sign is that the petcock is in the off position.

Subscribed in support of the Nessism catch and release program. ;)

Sure isn't anything I would be ashamed of. Some careful ebay shopping on some chrome odds and ends, the blast cabinet you have and the infamous Caswell kit of yours and she'll be sportin...

Personally I think it's not to bad of a starting point. I've seen a lot worse. ;)

Give some thought towards blasting those headers and painting them black. They should go nicely with the black bars (blast and re-shoot), black coil springs and possibly some black front fork lowers as well?

Nice looking seat pan also!

Looks like a mighty big project.

Really?Looks like a medium to light one in my books.

Ron, this bike is in worse condition than your 850 we had been talking about. To be honest, purchasing your bike would have saved me a lot of time and energy, but I've already owned two 850's and welcome a new and different project.

The photos under represent the corrosion situation. It's going to take a lot of work to bring this thing back to the condition I prefer. It can be made a runner fairly easily, but a proper clean up is going to cost me many hours in the garage.

Cleaning up stuff like that is what I like to do the most. A question of what you like to do.

As a fellow KZ owner I must subscribe. Can't wait to watch the rebuild.

Subscribed......... the paint doesn't seem all that bad. Looks like lots of oxidation on the unpainted surfaces. As you said, many hours of work.

Looking forward to it................I have never seen a project of yours from the start.
