A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 1982 GS1100E. I just purchased and got it running. The brake warning light on the dash is on. The brake light was staying on all the time. I removed the front brake switch and cleaned it. The got the brake light working correctly but the dash warning light still stays on. What could be the possibilities for this. The brake fluids are topped up. Pads are good and brakes work great.

I blame the original Suzuki designers, who apparently were working under the assumption that more is better. 10 idiot lights?!?

The older bikes had it right with 4 - Turn, Neutral, High Beam and Oil. I guess the more visual distractions, the better. :-k ?!?

I just disconnected the battery and other extraneous lights on my '82 11E. Don't know how to work your kickstand? You got no business on a public street.

I felt the same about the gear indicator lamps. When they crapped out, they stayed broken.

Mine works, but isn't lighted at night. I don't even know if it's supposed to be. But I know that every time I took my eyes off the road to try and read the gear indicator, I thought, "that's a stupid thing to do!"

I've got at least three OEM replacements, and no plans to install them. If they did light up, it would just be another stupid idiot light to distract me. I've got enough problems with night vision. (Night blindness, actually.)

But, does anybody know if the gear indicator is supposed to be lit up at night?

“Night” has nothing to do with it. The lights are on when the ignition key is turned on.

Rob, your gear position indicator is just that silver screen with the black LED display showing the number, it doesn't light up. There are 2 little lights on both sides of the indicator that illuminates the whole little square screen, so it should appear just as it does in the daylight. First position indicators on "77" models, I love them, put one on my 2005 Bandit. Not that they are actually needed, I just like having them.
