A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1982 GS1100G Muffler

My right muffler looks like some mist blew down the length of my muffler and etched it. I have watched eBay for a couple of months and there has been a few pieces of junk. Well there was a NOS piece in Japan but I haven't hit the lottery yet. Is there anyone making reproduction pieces? I know that I could go with Delkevic but would rather have something stock. Now if you know anyone who makes a 4 into 4 I might be interested. I have always liked the sound of a 4 or 6 cylinder bike with individual mufflers.

I have seen like that before, but on left (clutch) side probably from battery acid. But, anyway. . . . .

To find decent stuff like that, might take years.
Some stuff for my GK, took years. WOuld see stuff occasionally, but typically from a junker bike.
One trick I found is to also search for a more common part, then see if seller has other parts from that bike like they are parting out bike, and look at condition of parts, then maybe ask if they have the part yet that you are interested in.

Good idea. I didn't think of that angle. I just took it for granted that I would find it listed in an ad.

Marving make cans very similar to stock. You need to use the stock header pipes with them. :)

I like my Marving 4:1 a lot. The pipes between the 1000E and 1000G are similar but there is a slightly different bend in them. I used 1000E and a V&H pipe for 1000E on my 1000G. Needed to make a new hanger bracket adapter at the back was all.

No, occasionally one comes up on Ebay but generally you'd have to import from the UK. Postage from there is a lot cheaper than it is the other way though if you use the right service so maybe it'll work out. They are pretty rare to find here.

MotoGOworks does a really nice Stainless 4:1 but what I really like about the Marving is the flat collector & the fact that it allows retention of the center stand & access to drain plug. Mac also used to do the 4:2 mufflers & there was 1 other outfit who's name escapes me.... You'll likely only find something on Ebay state side. :)

Aha.. it was Jardine. that was the other lot. They did a straight as well as these turn outs. https://www.ebay.com/itm/154646909049?hash=item2401ac9079:g:1BkAAOSwAtphV1x3 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/283979035825?hash=item421e7834b1:g:1KIAAOSwDvlfNqRO

Thanks for the links. Wish I could use them. I have a 1982 GS1100G. I don't know if they would work. Seems I can find options for earlier bikes. I asked if they had anything for my bike but no joy. Looks like Marving or Delkevic for now.

I have a set of stock 1982 GS1100gl pipes you could have. Just shipping. I think they use the same pipes. The mufflers are in pretty good shape. If interested I could shoot you some pictures. Pm me for more info.
