A new tig welding setup will cost you about $800 or more..... Gas is expensive (you need argo-shield) & it takes a lot of practice.
I can Mig, Gas, Arc & Tig weld but I probably wouldn't be very good with the Tig these days, out of practice. Mig is the easiest (It was designed for Women
:lol: - well actually it was designed for making bombs in WW2 with unskilled labour, in the UK the bomb makers were mostly women as the men were away at war....) Arc is probably 2nd easiest but also the hardest to get a nice cosmetic finish. Gas is probably easier to get a nice finish as you can "push" & work the metal with the torch more than with any other type.
If you do a college course you could prob make it one of your "projects"
Cost me $25 to have a welder do mine (I clamped it etc). Said he'd be interested in doing more but he's California.
