    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Good one ..

Open up the tiny vent in the side of the fuel filler neck, lets the tank be topped off completely in a few seconds, rather than a few minutes...Note to newbs, don't top it off unless you are going to hop on and ride several miles immediately.

Do you enlong them both directions ?
I myself setup the degree wheel and take measurements as to where the cams are. With this info decide which way you want to move the cams and how far.
You can file the slots by hand, start with say ? diameter added to the slot.
Assemble with the cam rolled to the end of your new slot and measure again.
Look over your numbers. Determine if you went the right way? How much change you got and do you need more or can you back it off a bit.
With this you can end up with the minimal removed from the area the bolts clamp onto.

The first time you do it, take your time and check each measurement. Some people get confused with the math involved so take it as a learning experience.
Each engine wants a different setting so start with what is recommended but you may ride it and after awhile go through it again with a bit different timing and see how it feels.

Yes, slot in BOTH directions, about 1/4 inch. Also, if you have a MONTH to do it, use a file. If not, use a carbide cutter in a die grinder! Ray.

You can advance or retard the cam timing to move the power up or down in the RPM range. Drag race motors run the cams more retarded to move the power up higher & street & road race motors have the cams more advanced to make more bottom end & mid range. Ray.

So slots allow you to manipulate the timing by less than a tooth on the cam sprocket :-k

Compensate for the changes you have made with the intake and exhaust.

How will you learn if you don't ask questions? I have NO problem sharing my knowledge. I would much rather someone ask & learn rather than tearing up parts to learn the hard way! Ray.

Just another reason I love this place

I will research some and be back with more questions then.

Mriddle,

Can you post a pic of the 1150 oil cooler? because I would like to use the same setup. Can you also tell me what mods would have to be done?

Thanks, Supavert
